One of those times we got a 'much' better game in the West. I really liked Power Blade back in the day, whereas Power Blazer was just not fun to play for me. Good thing they made a sequel to Power Blade instead, since it's also pretty fun.

Steve Trevor? Even if Taito USA had not demanded wholesale changes to the game, the name of the game's hero would have been changed since it's also the name of Wonder Woman's main love interest.

I really love the presentation of this one, but the NES version with its less cute feel is... just a better playing game.

wow Power Blade 2 sounds cool, I'll be on the lookout for a cheap & affordable copy in my local game store!

Oooh. Got some bad news on that front for you.

PB1 is honestly the better game, 2 is super linear. I prefer the sprawling stages of the first game to the straight-shots of 2

I feel like this game and The Krion Conquest are interesting case studies in just how much basic game mechanics matter. Power Blazer is a very well-made game...except it completely fails when it comes to controls - it's slow, it's stiff and the boomerang attack has a very, very low range. It's not fun to play at all (which thankfully was addressed in Power Blade). On the other hand, The Krion Conquest is a low-budget game that doesn't come close quality-wise to any of the NES Mega Man games, but the mechanics are fun enough that it's still an OK game (although that's more thanks to Capcom's designers than Vic Tokai's).

The biggest issue with The Krion Conquest besides what you've mentioned is that it got the same treatment as Karnov - they got rid of most of the cutscenes for the English release and made it somewhat harder at the same time, I recall.

I'm rapidly approaching Doropie (The Krion Conquest) in my recordings. In fact, I took a photo of the cart in the system today. I enjoy it quite a bit so that'll be a fun day of playing.

How do you steal from Rockman but not take the one thing that makes those games fun?
@BagOfMagicFood Жыл бұрын
It reminds me of the unlicensed game Rocman X. It stole the Rockman title screen, but it didn't steal any of the playability!

I've played this game not too long ago before this video released, and I gotta say, it is INCREDIBLY hard. This game is not made for beginners, and the difficulty will definitely hit you without warning as you play it for the first time.

This is such a gorgeous looking game. I know the remakes are technically superior, but I love the retro feel of these old FE games. It's amazing they are as good as they are and hold up reasonably well.

Wait, you mean Japanese prefer western version too?
@RndStranger2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Retrogame fans in Japan are aware of western markets and versions of games and this is one instance where they think westerners got the better deal.

@@RndStranger I have an online acquaintance who used to run a Japanese website for NES action games and among them were walkthroughs for Shatterhand, Power Blade and Snake's Revenge.
