I know so many people come out of the woodwork to point out every place you could've done better or faster or more efficient, but honestly doing things your way, especially on the first speedrun try, is so much more entertaining than if you came into it with a hyper optimized, min-maxing route from the get go with no mistakes. Keep improving and taking advice obviously, if that's what you want, but also keep doing you, because you is awesome!

@@Settledrs The whole appeal of speed running (at least for me) is seeing how individuals and the community can make small pieces of progress over time. Your speed run is the first point on the map - the pioneer. People complaining that your first speedrun isn't perfect should sit back and appreciate the journey. Or better yet - run it themselves and be a part of the progress.

@@Settledrs You're welcome! I have played RS since 2005, just a kid back then, and then on/off until now, and I have always lost motivation along the way even though I love the game. Your Swampletics series inspired me to finally properly set goals and complete things I wanted to, instead of only thinking how far away the end goal is. And I've progressed so much stuff I've always wanted to in just a few weeks. (I always found farming to be absolute ass, and now I've gone from 25 to 72 in a couple of weeks with a bit of routine and thoughts of watermelons). Next big goal is my own Firecape, and I look forward to seeing you breeze through something that's taken me more than 13 years! So thank you so much for not only being entertaining, but also inspiring and just a good person. World needs more of them, no matter what their nerdy niche is. My twin brother standing next to entrance to elvarg with a inventory of lobsters. We both basically are shitting our pants when I enter elvarg lair. When I killed him we jumped out of our seats. Then he borrowed my adamant armour and because he didn't spend the time begging for those swordfish we again shit our pants me especially because if he died 2 months of making money was gone lol. He killed it with literally 5 hp remaining and then got killed by 1 of those lesser demons outside lol. Luckily I was standing next to it with full hp to get my armour back haha. Elvarg was a absolute Chad endboss at this point in time. 1 of my favourite moments ever on rs. Hey Settled, it seems you're familiar with the speedrunning scene. Livesplit is incredibly easy to setup and use, and it works well with segmented runs too. I’ve been watching you since a little after you started the Swampman series.. At the time I was artistically drained and at a complete standstill when it came to living my dreams. I was just stuck at home with no gigs, and a computer with two monitors. I relived my glory days of OSRS, found you, and found new inspiration. I saw someone who had placed nothing but restrictions on themselves, but was determined to achieve a goal in their own way..that really resonated to the core of my being. Slowly as your series progressed, I saw my self in parallel-progression. Eventually things kinda crashed again for me, and you released the update video about how you lost everything, but you were not discouraged. You knew that after all you had been through, you had the knowledge and experience to reconcile, and push through to your goal. I’ve taken that mentality with me nearly everyday, understanding that some days it will feel like I have “nothing” and that I’m starting from scratch.. That’s just not the case. I have those around me, the years of experience, and my dream.. this is all that matters. So to simply say, thank you for being such an important phantom-mentor to me. You have never spoken a word to me, but still have impacted my life in a positive way more than 95% of people I work with/meet. You go get ‘em Swampman(or now Speed Cape Man ‘working title’). I will be happily supporting you from the side. Cheers!

This was fun to watch and is a great first attempt. I enjoyed watching ! I had a few ideas to optimize some of these grinds. Maybe you can consider some of these? Starting Zogre Flesh Eaters gives 2 super restore(3) potions, and its requirements aren't time consuming. Having the lady in Nardah clean some kwuarm and hoping for Dr. Jekyl to come by while you do your other grinds can get you 1-2 more super restore(4)s depending on your luck. Mammoths drop ppot(1)s at 1/25.6. Them being in the wild certainly isn't helpful, but they're accessible without the thieving grind. The math on grubby key and chest rates is 1 dose of ppot/super restore per 57 baby reds, so mammoths drop 2.2x as many doses per kill on average. Mammoths have 2.6x times more hp, but their net ranged def is 18% lower. Overall it's almost exactly the same expected time per ppot dose, but better ranged xp/h and no thieving requirement. Between all those it shouldn't be too tough tocut out the whole thieving grind so you can train prayer and ranged on more efficient monsters than baby reds.

The fact that the game is constantly updated makes speedruns "more interesting" because of the way things will evolve over time, but I can't get over this feeling that I wish there was some way to keep things the exact same so that the evolution instead came just from people finding new methods with the same resources. (Basically, watching Mario64 speedruns are interesting to me because it's bonkers when someone finds a new exploit, I feel like it wouldn't be the same if the game was updated and eventually the updates themselves were what changed the methods.)

Why are you just so good to watch. Best video man

You know, it feels weird watching non swamp-man content here and not thinking "Huh, this is cool, but also I'm excited for the next swamp-man episode" because swamp-man won and I can just watch Settled without thinking about swamp-man.

Did you know for the black titan fight of the holy grail, you only need to be holding Excalibur when the final hit is dealt. So for example, if a fire strike was in mid air and you swap to the Excalibur when it lands, you still get the kill. Same goes for dark light on Agrith naar.

@@Settledrs it's kinda weird, i still find it faster than flinching with fresh outta waterfall type melee stats. But every time I've ever killed him was like a year or so apart, never seen anyone try to do an in depth comparison, just saying might be worth a try. The shadow of the storm fight I think is exclusively better though

Would love to see you do this on a pure regular ironman.
