All these abandoned houses that no one has lived in for decades seem so sad. There was once a full life being lived there and now it no longer exist. A man who loved music, who lived modestly surrounded by the one thing he loved most. I saw a clock on the bedroom wall just like one I had for many years that I purchased back in the 80's. If walls could talk what stories they might tell. So many stories to be read by all the things we live behind long after we're gone. How do they manage to survive and we don't. Such a shame no one comes back to claim anything once they're gone...it's as if people have just stopped caring if anything lasting remains to be treasured from someones life. This house makes me sad but it also helps me see the person who once lived there. Thank you for sharing this interesting find.

The Donovan biography came out in 2005 and the Levon Helm book came out in 1993 so house may not have been abandoned in the mid-80's as some speculate. Also, is the computer mouse wireless? Wireless mouse first came out in 1991. Very interesting explore! Thanks RnK!

Knowing that the records and instruments are probably spoken for, I need the funky dinette light, the wooden key tree (probably teak), the alligator, wine rack, bench, black spindle lamp, drummer wall hanger, wood stove, television, ashtray, the sideboard that the records are on, the silver bowl, the posters with the bongo people, History of the U.S. 11 & 12, The Count picture, shield, owl candle thing, and milk glass lamp. Really this dude could decorate. No homo.

As a musician and a drummer you have stumbled across a gold mine! I have years and years of jam tapes and CDs with original unheard song ideas! And the vinyl is worth its weight in gold and I'll bet he was a drummer. Damn! If it was me I'd walk out of there with those cassettes and then the vinyl. Leaving those valuable recordings behind to rot and vandalism is a sin of waste. I would hope that in my untimely death somebody would have the vision, foresight and love to rescue my music and get it into the hands of another musician, if not then at least sit on it in storage until the the right time presents itself! The public is so used to the creative fruits of artists not knowing, understanding or appreciating the blood, sweat and tears that go into producing such work. On the one hand it may be just a mess of drivel, but I don't think so in this case. Go back and rescue that treasure trove from decay, I would consider it an act of love and kindness!

There was a hand truck in the tool room. I would've loaded all of the records and stereo equipment and then kept on raiding. You know that all of that stuff is either going to rot away or get destroyed by vandals, so help yourself to what you find! Btw, I hope your girl took that toy drum kit she liked. She deserves it for breathing in all of that dust and mold.

I don't understand how properties can just be left alone like that for so long. I mean, who is paying the mortgages or tax bill?? The city or bank would come and clean it and sell it or demolish it I would think.
@DennisMoore664
@DennisMoore664 6 жыл бұрын
That's the exact same thing I was wondering. With as much as houses go for in most places I'm confused that these places sit empty for years or decades. I get that there might not be a mortgage so no bank involvement, but I have a hard time thinking that the city or county is okay with an abandoned property not accruing any taxes for the municipality or that other people in the neighborhood want abandoned homes bringing down their collective property taxes. It's not like this place is out in the desert or middle of no-where, right?

Most properties that were either abandoned or foreclosed on have to remain uninhabited for many years before the bank will do anything with it. It is called a "zombie property". Odds are it was a repossession and they are not yet through the window. But basically I was once told most end up falling in before anything is done.

Why can't anyone say die, died, death or dead? Do euphemisms such as "passed", "passed on", "passed away" soften the sharp edge of life's reality and/or make it easier to circumvent the fact that we are only temporary, unimportant and we too shall cross the threshold of Death into a realm from which no one returns to tell us what it's really like . . .alone.

Another surprising and interesting explore - clearly the home of a musician (a jazz drummer?) and music lover. Btw you really need to give your guest participants permission to speak... 😁

That vinyl collection is probably amazing. Would like to know if this guy has his own music recorded. Wonder what's his story.

It's clear from the dust that you all didn't "set up" anything in that house but I have to think it was left that way for people to find by somebody at some point. What's crazy to me is the electronics, the vinyl, left behind?!?! It would be SOOO interesting to know what happened and where the owner is or went and if they had no family or what. Crazy. No doubt entertaining, as always.
