That's one of the most important pieces of information and a very very common test question and he completely overlooked it 🙄 I hope no-one answers "only if your exit is clear" instead of "unless you are turning right and are impeded by oncoming traffic" and fails their test because of him 😕

6:10 Solid white lines down the centre of the road. More often than not these are described as Solid white lines ALONG THE CARRIAGEWAY by examiners etc. because commonly in hilly country there are many roads with three lanes shared by two way traffic. With the lines sometimes between lanes 1 and 2 and sometimes between lanes 2 and 3. Oncoming traffic is therefore normally in lane 3 or normally in lanes 2 and 3. The layout is specifically designed to facilitate overtaking but is an area where there is a high risk of fatalities where people get it completely wrong. This is very important as a head on crash of 120 mph impact speed is feasible.

You can cross broken white lines, but cannot cross solid ones unless emergency. So with double white lines, one side can cross (broken) and not the other (solid) unless emergency. Does this help?
