How can you confuse a white background with an oblique bar with a red background with a white horizontal bar? Maybe you're colour blind but the confusion of a horizontal as opposed to an oblique and black line counters that!

These are the ones I'm thinking of: - Roundabout / Mini-Roundabout - Road Humps / Uneven Road - Loose Chippings / Fallen Rocks - Temporary Lane Closure / No Through Road - No Parking On Verge / Soft Verges - Pedestrians in Road / Zebra Crossing - Recomended Route For Pedal Cycles / Route For Pedal Cycles Only - Tramway / Route For Trams Only - Level Crossing With Barrier / Level Crossing Without Barrier - Low flying Aircraft / Side Winds

2:16 Another way for how to remember the first sign, based on the shape only. 1. An upright rectangle can only have 'up or down' arrows => must be the one way sign. 2. A round sign can have arrows pointing to *any* direction => must be keep-direction sign. You may also invert the order of 1 and 2 depending on how it fits you best.

For me the two most confusing signs are (1) a bicycle in a red circle and (2) a bicycle in a red triangle. Red circles are prohibitions, red triangles are warnings. (1) means no bicycles, (2) means beware of cyclists. Unless you understand the general principle, you can make dangerous mistakes.

As a driver with over 60 years experience and widely travelled, I have always had issues with these “priority/give way arrowed signs. Too ambiguous. Surely, one bold arrow can suffice, thereby removing the uncertainty. Deciphering twixt a mandatory and a give-way priority sign would be simplified too?

1-2 Blue circle = must (drive streit ahead) Blue square = informasjon (direction of road) 3-4 In Norway we have a different sign at end of dual carriage way, black arrows forward and backwards 5-6 We don't use these in Norway. We use a yellow diamond for priority road, and a sign with a sketch of the intersection under it. 7-8 In Norway these signs have the same size arrows. We learn to watch for the red arrow. They are supposed to give way, and white/black has priority 9-10 Nothing to add
