yes the blizzak snow tires are the sole reason for their 1/4 mile time in this MX5, they are great for ice and snow not so great on dry paved roads for handling and accleration 8 months of the year i have them on my turbo miata

Even though road noise is supposedly the same with either roof...I still prefer the longevity and the no vandalism worries that come with a hard top.

I had more vandalism with my ‘99 soft top. I put 5 tops in 10 years on that car. My current Miata is a 2013 NC GT PRHT. I’ve never had a single issue. I’m confused by your previous comment. Am I just reading it wrong or something?

@@JJF1973nope yer spot on- I am lucky to park my prht 13’ in my garage always. I’ve had 10 convertibles over my 5:04 64 years of residing in Bay Area -a25 cent razor blade can cause immense damage sadly in this area n time- it ain’t getting better but here?. It’s 10 mos a year with top down baby🎊🎊

LOL! How on Earth did someone at Motor Week screw up on the HP ratings of the MX-5? 187 HP? Would be nice, but it's only rated at 167 HP (Even with premium fuel, you can't squeeze out an extra 20 HP, Mr. Davis..lol)

Drove one and I love it... Made me consider an NC. I love my NA dearly though... and decided to get an FR-S... which is now at Toyota likely getting a new motor.

8 seconds to 60 is just too slow. A car like this deserves a sub 7 time. I really like the Miata and I realize the car isn't really about acceleration, but this thing needs to be faster.

MR2 and S2000 imitator? Maybe you should learn some history BEFORE writing your script. This is in no way an attempt to steal the spotlight from the MX5, as I like the car just fine. Though to say that the MR2 and furthermore the S2000 are imitators is a wildly false statement, as both cars are predecessor of earlier models. While the MR2's second round may have not met expectations, the S2000 well exceeded expectations, as the model ran eight years longer than intended.

MR2 Spyder was garbage. The S2K was faster but way more expensive and also had a bad tendency to crash into walls.

The NC1 looked OK. The NC2 (first facelift) had the smiley face. The one featured in this vid is the NC3 (second facelift) and has an OK front end.

haping1 You ever driven an NC? Thing feels pretty damn well; the NB is a raw-er experience if that’s what you mean, but then the NA is better at that. The NB is a good tweener of both.

Well said, I very much agree with the rundown of each generation. A lot of people hate/joke on the NC but have clearly never driven one...it's fantastic. (I've driven every Miata, and love them all, but the NC is the most well rounded of all of them imo)
