Episode 4 left us just as shook and impressed as every other Road To Kingdom episode! This week, we had a LOT of content to get through - “My Song” performances from ONF, Golden Child, ONEUS, VeriVery, TOO, and The Boyz! - and we enjoyed every minute of it.

the boyz really do give all they have kevin hurt himself before the performance. he was limping when he was out of camera and completely sat out in the last dancebreak and left the stage early, yet he still managed to dance all the parts he was in and didnt made a single wrong face. also eric just... fell backwards. no mattress, noone to catch him. he wanted to be out of the way for the cameraman so he threw himself with his back on the floor and rolled to the side. during sword of victory, younghoon was still injured and had to sit out in a lot of more exhausting dance parts. them making those stunts may look nice, but they are seriously risking a lot for it, only that we might enjoy it a bit longer. we cannot give more than huge respect for how they think of the performance first and their health as second.

That is why I am so happy golden child aren't doing the most performance wise like tbz. They had hiatus for a year due to joochan injury we can't risk more injuries. There are some many ways you can showcase your talent without climbing the backs of people. Safety ahould come first before anything else

It is sad that some of them got injuries for giving all that they've got to show us a great performance. I can't blame them though because RTK is their biggest break to become known not just in SK but also worldwide. They must get people's interest and I think it is paying off because I have lost count of people who are saying that they're a new The B/Deobi. There are lots of kpop groups out there who are good at singing/dancing/acting/performing. They knew that they must do something that is out of the box to get people's attention.

if you want an explanation for the boyz's storyline, here's my interpretation of it: - so obviously following their previous "danger" performance, the boyz stole the crown and became rulers of the kingdom. - however, another group stole the crown from the boyz as we see in the intro, and this new king imprisoned the boyz which is why we see sangyeon in chains. - the "picture" part is supposed to be a painting of the boyz from back when they were still the kings - like those old renaissance paintings - and their choice for singing in a softer and sadder tone for this part is supposed to convey their sadness for losing their title as kings. - the kevin and q dance break is them starting to build up their determination to escape from their imprisonment, which is signified by the swelling of the music followed by sangyeon breaking from his chains. - then we get a sequence of most of the members sort of having their own solo parts to kind of show their preparation to take back their title. - this is then followed by the "ship" section, which is them raising their flags and starting a revolution for the crown. - obviously following that is the revolution itself, ending with juyeon sucessfuly taking back the crown from the enemy group and proving themselves as the true kings. hope this helped,, if others have a different interpretation then i'd love to hear it too.

Golden Child literally was bringing Paganini's life story to general public and presenting in full metaphor. Because he is a legendary violinist, and also fits to the meaning of the song Wannabe itself. It's understandable if most of people couldn't catch it at the first time watching, especially if we didn't know about Paganini before. But after know the whole story, it will make us understand why it is a smart choice. Lots of people searching about Paganini after this performance and surprised by how amazing he is and his work. And finally understood why he is so special so that Golcha presenting his work. Golden Child themself Rebooted as mature & elegant concept group, fits perfectly with classical music. As extra, they have a member who can play violin well to support the performance themself. This song's arrangement honestly is so grand. Taking a risk by mixing kpop edm with orchestra also a little touch of rock in those pretty guitar riffs. Don't forget adding Caprice no.24 that blends well with their song. To those people who unfamiliar with classical music like me, it's like a gift. Instead of competing, they teached us classical music by performing this glory. And maybe that's it. They delivered it well. Maybe not everyone can catch at the first sign, but the message is really over there. Thank you for reaction. Golden Child does their best to live up to their name, its golden for some reasons.

Golden Child is definitely living up to their name and we hope they know how proud all of their Goldnesses are of them! They are really showing themselves off so well! Also that's a really cool concept and as non-violinists we definitely did not get that the first time, but we did get that they were running after a dream, so even without knowing the full story Golden Child communicated the story well!

That's Joochan's violin. It was actually kicked by the cameraman in the 4k cam. He said yesterday on his vlive that he practiced playing the violin more than 8 hours a day for the performance. He actually bruised his shoulder because of it.

omg the fact that someone kicked his violin makes me so angry!! we both had such bad feelings when we saw it was laying there, but still!! if it was part of the dance then they definitely practiced with the violin laying there and the camera man should've been more careful!! Joochannie works so hard for us and for his team members >< my whole heart.

@@BerryBestReacts i was real mad when i saw it got kicked. Like man. He had the violin for 9 year alr, so its very important to him. But then the cameraman was everywhere. They needed a lot of running around. But i wished they could've been more careful. They're all very hardworking and the sweetest. He even did a violin lesson 101 in his vlive. They played viilin and keyboard with Daeyeol. He often plays instruments in his vlive.. There was one where he did violin, guitar, and keyboard. Even tried to play it by ear.

Hi. Yes, Oneus quite changed the song 'Lit'. They added a new verse for Seoho, who is the main vocalist, and he rap! They rearranged and reorganized (musical form) the verses and those who sang some in the original, in this presentation sang others. Ex: Xion sang Keonhee's high notes; Hwanwoong sang parts of Xion. And obviously the remix with more traditional musical instruments and choirs than the original. In turn, each of the 6 members represents a different character (historical, musical or from the Korean folklore) as it happened in the previous presentation of the song by H.O.T. Seoho injured his ankle, that's why he rarely appears and only joins in the final dance after the break dance. Smart the musical arrangement to be able to include him. And the scene of the red moon and the bloody dancers is a reference to the current Netflix kdrama 'Kingdom', very famous in Korea and which refers to a zombie attack on the emperor.

12:20 yeeeees. That's Caprice no. 24 by Niccolo Paganini and it's actually hard to play. Also, do both of you do ballet too? Yeeeey. 36:33 that's j.you, their center. He has a lot of lines in the actual song but chan (leader of dark side) got most of it Kevin didn't dance in the last part since his ankle is in a bad state and sunwoo's knee is injured too. Also, the story is about the kingdom's revolution with traitors and everything.

I really like this unbiased reactions and comments. They did a really good job! In terms of ONEUS performance, Yes their reactions and mine are totally different, that makes me worried because that's the reaction of someone who didn't know them much and the song. Yes they stick with the traditional korea concept but they did a lot of rearrangements on the song, like the each of them has their own spotlights (even the main vocalist raps). You must know the background story of Golden Child’s performance first, so you could understand why they kept the arrangement of their song. At first I thought that too but reading Paganini’s story reflecting to their Wannabe made me think they should be one of the top groups. They really studied everything, not just because they wanna show how cool group they are, but how intelligent they are. That they weren’t trained just for debuting, but they were really trained, learning everything else beside guitar, piano, dancing, singing. They did learn everything else about music and art.

So true about Golden Child. They were not flashy and it wasn't public appealing despite the fact that only they are doing this artistic concept which is technically difficult and it has higher value. But you also have to tell people what they are doing. Coz they don't know including me 😅 However, it has a storyline if you don't know. I read this theory somewhere. Here Joochan being the main character, wants to be the highest, perfect musician. He plays Paganini piece here and people say you need to exchange your soul with devil to play this and it's suppose to be so good, women and people pass out. I read Paganini player died of illness but he still wanted to reach that perfection. Now, here, White violin hanging up represents that Paganini music itself. In the intro part, he wasn't using white violin because he still haven't achieved it. Members also pretended to use violin shows they were other musicians in that era who were not perfect as him. Violinists at the back represented how devil's supporting Joochan. He then plays that paganini, representing he is trying hard. Other members passed out as they showed it through their floor dancing. However, in the end, he still couldn't do that. He is still stuck in the air at the end, reaching to achieve that perfect music. Like you, I am also worried about their position and the rumors says they got eliminated. 😔 That's bad but well... I guess for Golden Child, this was the interpretation of 'My Song' and I am actually glad they didn't changed it that much coz Wannabe was their reboot song and it means a lot for them. 😊 (I ain't saying others were bad. Of course, I see how cool Oneus and Too were. Especially Verivery were top2 for me👍)

you know Joochan really got high stress on this performance as he practised more than 8 hours a day for such masterpiece. that's why he cried. And you should watch the 4k fancam of the stage so to watch clearly what the members did in the intro. Suck Mnet camera!!! This is "my song" they matched the theme with the stage design... yet everybody loves Big performance with lots of dancers, settings and big punch to the dark concept.... and people said cause of the low budget stage. i think hiring orchestra team is more expensive than dancers right?

can't really speak to which is more expensive >< both the bigger performances and the more understated ones are definitely working really hard, but it is unfortunate if people think it is low budget just because it was more understated because they were really just going with their concept that they chose. joochannie and all of GolCha works so hard, so we're definitely proud of them and enjoyed the performance and we hope they know that all of their Goldennesses are super proud of them!!

@Thunderbird hi so from our perspective, which we hope came through in the video, there's nothing wrong with big performances at all. both are a lot of extra work and you can tell the groups all worked really hard going after the concepts that they chose. our perspective was more that big performances tend to be more eye catching on first watch, which is super important on a show like this since voters will usually only get to see it once, which is why we made the point to discuss big performances vs. more understated ones when we were discussing golden child's performance. definitely not saying one is better than the other because it's definitely very clear how hard everyone is working :)

VERIVERY was trying to convey a haunted nightmare and future demons type of concept which is why it did look scary + there was a bed to show that they were sleeping and then woke up in the end from the nightmare and I guess it looked like it was a zombie type theme but I think that a lot of people got that wrong (it truly would be a zombie type if they were dressed like zombies)

after learning that it's a nightmare concept, certain parts about the performance make a lot more sense, like the ending where one of the members was just standing instead of grabbing him like we talked about. But either way, the performance was scary and impactful so props to verivery!

Veryivery concept is basically the beginning when he’s laying ( kangmin aka Maknae of the group ) is having nightmare but when wakes up at the end is he really having nightmare? Is basically what concept of is . I think performed their concept the best honestly 😀 but love all performances really.

you actually got ONF's concept right! they are supposed to be marionette dolls controlled by yooa. ONF themselves summarise the story as puppets who cannot love their maker. the more you watch the perf the more details you can capture. Fuses have so many theories regarding the story too. For Eg. Yooa bringing the puppets to life and they ended up falling in love with her. but as time goes by the puppets lose memories (has links with moscow moscow's lyrics). i guess she realises it was not meant to be, coldly, she puts her mask back on while the puppets tried to stop her in the end but failed. Essentially, i like how the song is already sad but with this concept they made it more eerie and tragic. also some say hyojin was suppose to be a conductor and some also said he might be holding a wand. you know what, there's way too many theories to summarise it simply LOL Anyways thanks for reacting and appreciating it!

I suggest checking out the original version of LIT again. There were actually a lot of changes in their performance here. Seoho was also injured so he wasn't included in most of the group choreo. Instead they gave him a whole new rap verse (reminder that he's actually the main vocalist) so he could still be part of the performance

Rewatching "Lit" I understand their review because the song stays relatively the same in the performance. Like dance break, new rap, intro are the only noticeable changes. if you removed them you still get 4 mins of the original song, down from 5 min. The instrumental is the same throughout and the melody is still the same.

In the performance, there are more traditional Korean instruments than in the original (flute, more presence of percussion), there are more choral arrangements making harmonies. In this presentation, each member also represents a different character (from Korean folklore, historical character, musical representatives) to tell a story and relate it to the Kingdom kdrama; in the original this does not happen so much. Surely there are more elements that, either I did not perceive or I forgot now when writing. Both versions are very good and in this performance they gave everything and each one stood out very well. Proud to say Joochan was really playing the violin I quite don't get the story of Golden Child but my own theory is This is related to Lovelyz Cameo All of them wanted to take the center position of Violinists , The part of the intro (Who jumped) was trying to get the violin but the others dragged him down so he couldn't get the White Violin, The Orchestra was there to see who deserves the Center position. The transition between Joochan's hand to Y's means that Y gets the Center position , Others didn't agree , The half agreed that Joochan will get that position and the other half was trying to show-off to get it , They let Joochan played the violin and the others were surprised by his amazing violin talent , so they were dragged into the music and helped him to win the position , In the end Joochan got the position. Enjoyed your reactions, especially to ONF and VeriVery. :D I will say that for VeriVery's concept, it looked like they were going for a sleep paralysis/nightmare concept, which is why at the end, Kangmin wasn't grabbed after he woke up; the guy standing up behind him seemed like he was there more to represent the lingering paranoia one has after a nightmare, like someone watching you. At least, that's what I took from it, anyways. Also, what Payton said about how she has a pet peeve of people not sticking to their chosen concept all the way through a performance: have y'all heard of VIXX, by any chance? They're VeriVery's senior group from the same company, and are called the Kings of Concepts for... well, exactly the reasons you would expect. Would recommend checking them out either for your channel or just on your own time, because trust me, *no one* does concepts quite like VIXX does. ;) Especially dark/horror concepts.

I wonder if you noticed in the VeryVery performance that they portrayed the souls leaving the backup dancers bodys by actual visual representation. Im not sure if it was chalk or not but it left into the air from their mouths. You said that you wanted to see parts of them bringing the concept to life and that was one part. As a dancer myself (Ive danced since I was 6 and Ive taught for the last 8) who loves this type of concept I was extremely happy with VeryVery and ONF.

For Too’s concept they basically represented their whole real concept, in which each members represents good and bad! (The balance of course) as for the guy upstairs, he is a really important character in their story since he’s the “god” who brings peace. Obviously the purples are bad and whites are the good, as for the light blue they are the mediators! Basically their real concept is to represent the ying yang! As for their song arrangements they entirely changed the song. Their original song reminded me of the rock part in “photo”, whereas in this performance they slowed it down when the white team were on screen and an intense sound for the purple team (like you can hear it becoming louder and more aggressive, aka fight scene)! :)

we do go back and watch the preparation clips and the whole episode! usually right after we finish filming/editing haha - the reason we don't watch it beforehand is because we want the stage to speak for itself first, since that's traditionally how a performance is, and because to the best of our knowledge, when there is "audience" voting (like last week with the fan club voters), the "audience" doesn't watch the preparation clips and only sees the stage, so it lets us see the way the people judging it, both the idols and the audience, are seeing it! oh no :( rib injuries are really painful :( hope he gets well quickly and safely! thank you for watching!!

I don't think reacting to performances individually will give u a full understanding of what they want to convey through the performance......... Like on the surface these performances might not be different from original but there r a lot of additional parts which even other teams recognise when they perform....... So those things may be impactful in deciding the ranking for the performances at the end....... U guys should check out behind story for performance at least in ur free time if ur interested

yes hahha for TOO the guy just standing there is jyou he really stood there for like one and a half minuted but he actually has a really big role to play! this is a angel vs demons concepts and the demons killed the angels. hes the line between good and back. when he walked down the steps he sang something about a flower " the magnolia" which is the name of the song. magnolia brought the angels back and there's balance. they really made the performance about the lyrics of the song, you could look up the lyrics!! Hello😊 I will explain here the concept of TOO because I know you don't really understand what's their concept is and that's also my reaction when I saw there performance. Anyway I'm a fan of TOO and I already know them by name😊 so here's their concept explanation. ~The guy who's holding a balance scale which is J.You, his representing Goddess Themis the "Goddess of Justice " that she can predict the future predict "beginning" and "end" and see into the mind. It is proofs that J.You stand on the stairs and witnessed all the chaos and not participating in the war. The choreography throughout the stage also show the "evil" which is the dark color and "angel" the light color. Then it was J.You's turn. He step down, power makes two sides into 2 rows, like the court judging, listening to the last word of 2 sides. Now he closed his eyes, entered the middle of the final battle, untouched by the outside, opened his eyes immediately all fell down, everything seemed to be judged. But once again two leaders who have not given up to stand up to fight. J.You take the power to use two good evil sides to step back, it can be described as the glory of the gods. And then all kneel before J. You, for whether good or evil suffer before the law, J. You have rearranged the whole order as a natural nature of it is.~ and that was their performance goes.❤❤

You should know that The Boyz is being choreographed by someone who was SM Entertainment's lead choreographer (I think he still is)...the same guy who choreographed for EXO in their MV and concerts. Those back-up dancers? They dance for SM's artists, too, like Taemin. So Mihawk, their choreographer, is very very experienced when it comes to not just choreography alone but in concept projection onstage...those grand, spectacle stuff. So that's an advantage The Boyz have over the other groups. Because skill-wise, they're at par with all the other 6 groups, not much difference in level whether in dance, vocal, or visual. They just lucked out with Mihawk...and a really good song re-arranger.

I think from watching the stages we can definitely tell that everyone is really talented! Mihawk and his team are definitely experienced and suuuuper talented, but props to the boyz for being able to pull it off so well! also, i think judging based on these last few rounds, it's very clear that all of the groups are getting to work with talented choreographers because they're coming up with really cool concepts stages

All of the groups had their own choreographer. No matter how great the choreographer is if the group can't pull it off .. the performance wouldn't be that great. Tbz's perf is not just 100% work of their choreographer. It requires a lot of hardwork and teamwork to pull it off. Q (tbz main dancer) is also a choreographer himself and is also good at directing the members. + The concept is the members' ideas combined.

In terms of: 1# *Storyline/Concept* (an ARMY thing that we obsess over BTS for ^^) 2# *The 3 impactful moments* they presented that made me jungshook! 3# *The actual song* is really really good and suited their performance so well!

yay! two of our favorite things about road to kingdom have been getting to know groups we weren't familiar with and seeing different fandoms supporting the groups on the show! the boyz definitely had an amazing stage and really cool storyline~ all of the groups are working so hard!

@@BerryBestReacts 무대 다시 보셨다는건 이 영상을 보는 사람들과는 딱히 관계없는 이야기같구요...ㅠㅠ 무대에 대한 감상이 궁금해서 리액션을 보는건데 무대를 흘려보내시고 다른 이야기를 하시는게 조금 아쉬웠을 뿐입니다... 그만큼 이것저것 놓쳐서 깊은 리액션을 못보게 되는거니까요...ㅠ 무대와 깊이 관계있는 부분에 대해 그러시는거라 따로 해석을 해주시면 모르겠는데 떠올리고 나면 그만인 사소한 부분들에 그러셔서... 나머지 부분들은 잘 봤어요!
