Dude thank you so much!!! I just got the game and have just about 20 hours in the game, mostly from dying a lot and experimenting things by myself, then I heard about Road to Riches, but literally so many KZbinrs and guides don't mention HOW the money is made, they just say scan this and that and that's it, but thanks for sharing that you have to sell the data at a port, I wasn't sure how it worked, you really helped!!!

I have about 100 hours or so of gameplay and I'm still learning so much from these videos. Followed this method and made 2.2M in about 40 minutes. Not the highest income rate in the game but using this video, along with your Empire rank up video, I've unlocked the Clipper and can afford to buy it. Keep the amazing quality videos coming Astro.

Your videos are very helpful. I'm still a noob, so I would recommend to other noobs with low funds (and no engineering) to use a Hauler for your first exploration ship, you can easily get 30+ LY for $210k (+ fuel scoop). The Detailed Surface Scan is another $250k. (You can opt to sell the FSS scans too, if you can't afford the Detailed Surface yet. A short tour will get you enough to buy the Detailed SS.) Hauler Explorer Budget Build: remove hardpoint; A rated FSD; D rate all the core internals; Fuel Scoop (there isn't much time difference between A and B, so B would be the thrifty choice without compromising a lot credits and time scooping); Detailed Surface Scanner $250k Optional: shield generator, standard docking computer

skipping long distance planets that nets you lots of cr is not a good idea, that's the whole point of doing the road to riches, its not a race, like I said, if you want the cr, put in some time, you'll be glad that you did.

I'm glad you said this. I've been wasting a ton of time using the FSS at each system while using R2R. I didn't know if it was worth the time or not, but it seems like I'd be just fine without doing it. Thanks for the tips and all the awesome content.

Yep, it's because actually flying up to the planet also makes it become 'explored' just as it would in the FSS, and since you have to fly up to the planets in order to map them anyway, there really is no point in using the FSS on Road To Riches :)

Doing a trip from bubble to Sagitarius A via Colonia and back to Colonia (so far) took me around a month (playing around 1h every days so) with a 40ly ASP Xplorer. When back to Colonia i run through the last 3 ranks of exploration and earned around 800M just scaning systems on the wayand mapping only terraformable planets (plus all earthlikes). So yeah, new exploration system is paying a lot of cash, and is way faster and easier with the Codex tool to find some unique (And lucrative) locations on your way.

All your videos are really great for new players, many thanks. One comment on this one; If you watch Hawkes Gaming best start tutorial he says you don't have to fly to the planets to scan them. Just warp to the system star, honk the system, select the planet from your nav panel, point your ship where the planet is (as though you were about to fly to it), then FSS scan it from where you are (you have to adjust the horizontal bar filter selector when in the FSS to pick the planet you want).. Saves a ton of flying time. Cheers.

Tried this and yes its easy to do. I also found that just using the Full System Scanner is super easy and quick. Just jump into a new system scan and then warp out and i easily made a few million (until i made it back to an station and cashed out, don't know how much i made until i got back)

The efficiency bonus for mapping is worth going for. Not sure how much you get for a full system scan, but it's not worth the time. I don't know of any infograph for the new system.

Spansh seems to be better for road to riches. You see the value of the planet to scan, and the value to map them. You get a good idea of what you’re doing.

Antony Murray you can just honk and jump to the next system if you want. You’ll get a lower pay (as you mentioned) but it’s still enjoyable.

do that and get less cr but put in the time and fully scan and use probes on elw, tww, ww and aw and get hight cr, I did my first road to riches and my Exploration rank went up from Aimless to Pioneer, I put in the time and scaned all the elw, tww and aw, even hwc, that was before the do it by shooting probes.

You can do this in just a Hauler made a new save and earned 10mil in two discovery trips.

I would suggest buying a Eagle as soon as possible, it's just about a strait upgrade. but since your starter ship is free, don't sell it, keep it as a back up just in case.

With the planets that are far away, just use the full spectrum scanner to find the planets and get some data. Hell, I've only been using the FSS currently because I haven't gotten a surface scan.

You only need to fly out to those planets if you plan on mapping them. The FSS Scanner can even hit out as far as Hutton Orbital (0.22 LY (6,000,000 Ls))

You do get money from scanning with the FSS, but oyu get the same scan when you fly to the planet while having it targeted. so there is no reason to wast time FSS scanning it. unless the planet dose not show up in you system map.

I have done 31 systems with planetary scan, in this afternoon, I lvl up in explorer from Pioneer 26% to Pioneer 56% plus 65 million credit.....is going pretty slow..... :((

Three weeks late, but you have to map your keys for the dss in settings. Look for something like “mouse x axis” and “mouse y axis” and switch them both on.

Am I the only one who thinks with all the new stuff/modules, we should get more slots across the ships? Or a total revisit of the outfitting screen where instead of slots, we get a big-ass diablo inventory and put whatever we want wherever we see fit and tetris the ship together.

Not new player friendly if you are showing engineered and guardian technology. Most new players cannot afford an A fuel scoop. This was a missed opportunity to show how to build a low cost ship to make money from Road to Riches.

while i do appreciate your channel for high end gameplay and finding materials and such.. i dont agree with teaching new players to grind out money.. they should experience the game in a natural way.. fast tracking them to hundreds of millions of credits kinda skips the entire game and they will be sat in an anaconda with nothing left to achieve and will be bored and leave.

Yep I completely agree. I did just this albeit I did it in Beta where grinding was even worse. Anyway, took me some serious memory wiping and willpower to push me into making my own goals again. Took almost a year to get back in and enjoy the game for what it is. And to be honest if someone wants something super easy and repeatable for money just do planetary scan missions. Good reward, they're quite fun and sometimes take you by surprise. It actually feels like you're doing something between A and B with those missions instead of listening to "Friendship Drive Charging" 30 times to then sell your cargo or whatnot. I still feel they need to flesh out missions so people do them because of the content of the mission, not the reward which should just be the bonus. I've started to rant...oops lol

@@lullylew9083 totally agree.. more work needs to be done on the content of missions and cargo missions especially. money has never been a problem in elite.. everything you do gives you money.. but not everything you do is fun. they have already vastly improved exploration and mining.. id like to see some improvements to basic mission types like cargo and data and combat in general.

Your videos are good but you keep getting things nerfed by talking about all the best ways to do things. This optimization is good in principle but every time you mention a new way of doing something Frontiere come and nerf it. STOP I know this is your job but you are harming the game! The may grind, the mining grind and now RTR. Bet you it gets nerfed within a month. Stop supporting dtea he isn’t helping improve the game. He is causing it to back pedal. Sorry despite the quality of the channel I cannot support such a person who knowingly causes a game to get worse and yet continues.

Hi. First. thanks for the constructive comment. You need to remember that by the time i post a video about something it at already all over reddit and the forums. So Fdev most likely already know about it way before i post about it. And further more do you really believe that having a community who goes out of their way to hind think from the developers gives you a better game in the long run? in my mind that's how you get a broken game. i would also like to remind you that over the last month i have covered - Passenger missions in Robigo - Still working - Hunting low temp diamonds - Still working - Mining voild opals - Still working - I first covered R2R at the end of November last year (and this video is 3 weeks old) - Still working So saying that thing get nerfed every time i cover it simply nor true. Last thing i want to mention, is that this is not my job. I have a full time job next to KZbin, and i don't take any personal salary from the money made from KZbin. Everything is used to upgrade equipment. So i do KZbin because i like it and i think it's fun. Once again thank for keeping this constructive :-) Fly safe

Down to Earth Astronomy. Hello again, yes I don’t want to harm your fun, and yes of course the devs look everywhere for how to improve their game. But, it is substantially easier to watch 10-15 min of your videos, which are very clear and easy to follow, than to sift through tonnes of reddit postes. FDev are smart and lazy it would seem so I’m betting they put more faith in you than on Reddit. Obviously they aren’t going to nerf everything you talk about they are trying to create a balanced experience but more than a couple times it has been shown that what you say matters to them. This make you someone who needs to be responsible about the content you put out. If you feel that something is op maybe just get some advice from other players first or something along those line. If we could all work together to get this game into shape that is as hard as it is now. The best part of this game is the immersion, the ‘knowing how to fly a spaceship and micromanage it’s functions and internals. The worst part is the grind, and oh boy is it a grind. It shouldn’t have paytowin mechanics with its own in game economy. (Power play) and even after weeks of play players can’t even unlock 1 engineer. Longevity is a good thing but not when it is because you have to grind. Please think of this when you write your vids. I want to be able to sub and follow. You have a great presentation and I could definitely end up buying a chair because of you ;)

You are absolutely right that the level of grind in this game over the top, and I sometimes thing Fdev confuses grind for longevity. It can be but only to a certain degree, at some point the grind wall becomes too tall and people just quit. However I would argue that the grind only seems so overwhelming because many people don’t know what the most optimal methods are. I tried to underline that point about half a year ago when I showed that you can go from a sidewinder to an anaconda with engineered FSD and a guardian FSD booster in less than 24 hours. That is the main point of what I try to do on this channel. Find the optimal way to complete certain task and then share it with everyone, to try and break down that grind wall. Sometime when I do that Fdev decide that some tasks have become too easy and they rebuild the wall even higher than before. Now I don’t think you can blame me as the sole reason for a nerf, but I will admit that I might have affected it once or twice. Trust me it is not my intention to get anything nerfed, but there is a very fine line between when Fdev thinks is a fine and what is not, and I’m constantly trying to walk that line. So can I assure you that I will not try to get things nerfed, but again I also want to show the best way to complete progress in the game. :-)

Have you watched anyone else covering ED with videos on KZbin? There are several others posting the same info as D2EA. Obsidian Ant and Vindicator Jones for example. So you putting the blame on D2EA for being the reason of getting things nerfed is ridiculous. I'm new to this game and I'm enjoying it. And that is because of the excellent tutorials these guys put out. The base game tutorials don't do a well enough job to teach new players. So to understand how things work so we don't quit in frustration is to watch these guys. Inappreciate what all of them do and don't think it hurts the game in any way. I'm almost 200 hours into it and I'm just getting to engineering. I'm taking my time by exploring, mining, trading, etc. Enjoying the game for what it is and offers. I don't think I would be enjoying it as much if i didn't have these videos to learn from.
