I always found it much easier and faster to drop the dolly, turn the truck around and push the dolly under the trailer with the 'bull bar', we had an extra set of connections on it. See the vid on 'How to make a road train'.

Each to their own. Personally I find if you have the space, backing your lead and dolly onto your second trailer is easier. If you're limited on space then I'd agree that putting your dolly under your dog trailer first is quicker and easier. Same goes for putting together a triple. If you have the space, backing your roadtrain onto your 3rd trailer is way quicker than splitting the the whole combo up and putting it together one trailer at a time. Either way, I find space is the major factor in how I go about putting together my combo. Just my opinion there.

I do the same. Skeletal road train from Brazil.

@@jvschmidt7846 That's right --- space is a prime factor as is area surface. I found lockable fifth wheels (turntables) a big help too --- so long as you got the rig dead in line before backing onto the dog and beyond --- otherwise you could easily break the locking plate clean off if the trailers were heavy.

We had Nigerian drivers who'd push dolly's by hand. Strong ass people. Everyone else did it this way.

This is fun to do!!!!! Although here in California road trains aren't legal, the next best thing are double pups which I am currently practicing on reversing and docking the rear pup to a bay door!!!!! I am guessing that these dolly (gears) do not turn easily because of the second row of tires? and also longer trailers react slower because of length. Have you tried reversing two short trailers?
@TomasVarg Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your comment. 😊 WOW, I love California 💙 Reversing with two trailers must be hard, i have never done that. You are right about the second row of tires and about the length. Do you make any videos about your reversing? I wish you all the best and good luck with your reversing, have a nice day 😊
