Hi Mark, Yes, we were so lucky, our crossing was fine, but the following two days it was deplorable, really strong winds and lashing rain squalls, we just bunkered down in the van at Devonport ⛈️🌧 The weather has been pretty kind since then hopefully it continues 🤞 Thanks for dropping us a line. Hi Guys, yes that spot out of Geelong was perfect. It was worth doing the dry run into the ferry terminal the day before if you're not familiar with the area, as you'll be doing it in the dark on the day. We found it took a lot of stress out of it as we knew the way a little better. Cheers Andrew & Lisa

Hi Ian, Thanks for dropping us a line and so glad you enjoyed the vid. I was a captain in the Whitsunday Islands for 8 years, then in Perth on the Rottnest Island run for around 12 years then I was the commissioning & training Captain with Austal Ships for 15 years. So yes I've been on a ferry or 2 in my days.🙂

Great video Andrew and Lisa. Did the Great Ocean road 2018 from east to west. Thought the Umpherston Sink Hole in Mt Gambier was fascinating, certainly worth a visit. Great coast line with plenty of wind when we were there. Your video bought back memories. Thanks from New Zealand.

Wow you managed to squeeze so much into this episode, so much to see:) Glad you loved the Redwood forest, so beautiful. Short driving days sound good!! I just did 6 massive driving days getting to and from the Flinders Ranges. Tough drives in fog, extreme heat, no reception or navigation for parts, and so many road trains !! But worth it 😊. Looking forward to your Tassie adventures, not used to seeing you in cold climates 😂

Also what type of steel rims did you get ? Thanks

Hi Daryl, Thanks for dropping us a line, we are so glad you enjoy the vids. Re the steel rims, I put on CSA Ranger Black Steel rims rated at 1454kg, but only because they were the only ones available in Katherine at the time. There are better looking steel rims around, just make sure they are rated, with some extra margin, for your vans weight. With the lounge, I think you would lose the small corner cupboard at the fwd end of the lounge, under this cupboard is box forming the alcove for the external box housing the TV connections So guessing it would have to stay where is, what might work is if they just cut off the overhang of the short leg of the L, so you just have one long bench and make the table a little longer, as it is you can not sit 3 people at the L lounge anyway because of the leg conflict in the corner of the L. Hi Michael, It's never too early to decide to hitch up and go. Our rig is only 16'6" we wanted to stay as small as possible but still have a shower & toilet. However, after 3 years of learning, we would probably go to 18" dual axel to try and spread the load across 4 wheels instead of 2, especially if we were going to do as much dirt road touring again.
