I stumbled across this video when I got myself stuck in a KZbin hole last year! And this was the exact series of videos that inspired my roadtrip because I couldn’t believe the little Fiat made it with no issues! So I came up with the idea to drive a little Peugeot 206, that I bought for literally driving to work and back and nothing else, to Gibraltar! During planning the trip, it soon grew arms and legs, so in may this year we set off….and bounced our way through 10 countries, hitting autobahns, racetracks, Swiss passes, coast roads, camp sites….allsorts! Nearly 4000 miles we did altogether, without a single issue, and it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done!👌🏼 If it hadn’t of been for this video, I would NEVER have thought of doing something like that!👌🏼

Always cross your trailer’s safety chains. That way if the trailer comes loose the chains will cradle the tongue and keep it from hitting the pavement or worse, digging in on unimproved roads ( I know, it’s just an American thing )......ps. Ideally the chains should be hooked to the vehicle, not the hitch.

Sunday mornings with Freddie, favourite time of the week 👌I think we in the UK will always be mileage snobs. I remember learning to ride in the late 90s and my instructor saying he wouldn’t buy a bike with more than 25k miles as he reckoned that was a high mileage. Then I watch riders in the states making vids about riding trans america, without giving a second thought to the fact their machines have 150k+ miles on them. My grandad always drove older cars and was fond of saying a well maintained car with high miles is a much better buy than a low mileage car that’s only done school runs and therefore has never allowed the oil to get to it’s optimum working temperature. Safe travels my friends and looking forward to the next video 👍👍
@FreddieDobbs3 жыл бұрын
I LOVE this, and 100% agree! Three out of the past four of my cars have had 160k+ miles on the clock (all ran perfectly), and the only one that didn’t was a diesel smart car with 39k miles that the engine blew up on and I had to sell for scrap 10 months after buying😨

I reckon the little Fiat will make it. What engine is in that car? I have the Fiat Panda with the 0.9 (875cc) twinair engine which only has 2 cylinders but goes like a little rocket. EDIT- what you should have done is both ride the bike and tow the fiat packed with even more of your stuff, ditch the trailer! You got to think outside the box!😯⚠️😁
@arokh722 жыл бұрын
My biggest takeaway from this, is that a little go kart, like the Fiat 500, can actually tow. I'd never considered a Fiat 500 being able to tow a small box trailer of rubbish, let alone a motorcycle.

Had a few FIATs and every single one was great, loved my 60hp Punto 1, it was so good on long distance driving after 12h there was no strain at all felt. The Uno Turbo was blistering quick, really can't say anything bad about FIAT. The Punto 3 was a bit too Corsa to me.

I always observe different angles on these videos, thank you for the tour, but what strikes me, is watching Monica following you while you live your dream and she is just there to assist you, that is a faithful woman in love. Make sure you treat her well and take care of her, because those are rare and hard to find these days. A woman that will surrender her dreams, her life just to help that man follow his dream. I can assure you, going on those tours and adventures would be meaningless and pointless without Monica. It is great to have a life companion.

Not sure which motorway you used in Spain but keep well clear of the AP-7 known as "Robbers Alley". I got targeted there driving a motorhome just south of Barcelona approaching Tarragona. They use distraction methods whilst an accomplice (unseen by you) enters your vehicle and steals anything not fastened down. They are usually gone after a minute at the most. I lost cash, bank cards, driving licence and passport. I had to get a friend wire me enough cash to pay for fuel to return back to UK. With you having a small car and being two of you, you wouldn't present such a prize picking as I did who traveled alone in a large motorhome.

Shame you haven't mentioned your visa arrangements for your trip. If you're a UK citizen post Brexit you can only stay in the EU for 90 days out 180 days, and you say you're planning on 7 months? Also having UK registered car for that length of time could be problematic post Brexit.
@nealeburgess67563 жыл бұрын
Well done with your learning Spanish. Duolingo is great isn't it? However, realism check here. Learning Spanish takes a lot more effort than you imagine. Having the goal of speaking it fluently after 7 months is pretty optimistic. I have lived in Spain for 22 years, and have worked hard to learn the language. I speak way more Spanish than most English expats. However, I am still a foreigner. I will never be able to speak it like a native. I sound pretty good to an English person, but I am very aware that I have much more to learn. I am not trying to discourage you, just help you to manage your expectations. I promise you that you will never regret learning the language, whatever level you reach. Already you have experienced the joy of understanding the waitress. This is only the beginning. The Spanish are a lovely caring people. You will have much joy from getting to know them. Have a great time.

Why didn't you ride the bike? With all the extra cost of buying the trailer and the extra charge on the ferry for the car plus trailer, you could have paid for all the petrol for the bike, and the car would have used less. You may never get the opportunity to ride that route again. Then again, you'd have got wet in southern France. No Covid issues as you crossed into Spain? A brilliant video which took me back to the 80s, 90s and 00s and my trips through France and Spain on my bikes.
