Sunday mornings with Freddie, favourite time of the week 👌I think we in the UK will always be mileage snobs. I remember learning to ride in the late 90s and my instructor saying he wouldn’t buy a bike with more than 25k miles as he reckoned that was a high mileage. Then I watch riders in the states making vids about riding trans america, without giving a second thought to the fact their machines have 150k+ miles on them. My grandad always drove older cars and was fond of saying a well maintained car with high miles is a much better buy than a low mileage car that’s only done school runs and therefore has never allowed the oil to get to it’s optimum working temperature. Safe travels my friends and looking forward to the next video 👍👍
@FreddieDobbs3 жыл бұрын
I LOVE this, and 100% agree! Three out of the past four of my cars have had 160k+ miles on the clock (all ran perfectly), and the only one that didn’t was a diesel smart car with 39k miles that the engine blew up on and I had to sell for scrap 10 months after buying😨

I stumbled across this video when I got myself stuck in a KZbin hole last year! And this was the exact series of videos that inspired my roadtrip because I couldn’t believe the little Fiat made it with no issues! So I came up with the idea to drive a little Peugeot 206, that I bought for literally driving to work and back and nothing else, to Gibraltar! During planning the trip, it soon grew arms and legs, so in may this year we set off….and bounced our way through 10 countries, hitting autobahns, racetracks, Swiss passes, coast roads, camp sites….allsorts! Nearly 4000 miles we did altogether, without a single issue, and it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done!👌🏼 If it hadn’t of been for this video, I would NEVER have thought of doing something like that!👌🏼

I always observe different angles on these videos, thank you for the tour, but what strikes me, is watching Monica following you while you live your dream and she is just there to assist you, that is a faithful woman in love. Make sure you treat her well and take care of her, because those are rare and hard to find these days. A woman that will surrender her dreams, her life just to help that man follow his dream. I can assure you, going on those tours and adventures would be meaningless and pointless without Monica. It is great to have a life companion.

Always cross your trailer’s safety chains. That way if the trailer comes loose the chains will cradle the tongue and keep it from hitting the pavement or worse, digging in on unimproved roads ( I know, it’s just an American thing )......ps. Ideally the chains should be hooked to the vehicle, not the hitch.

Superb video. Fun and interesting to watch. Feel like I’m actually travelling. Brings back happy memories of many years of travel. I knew you were over optimistic to think you would make it from Calais to Spanish border in a day. France is a massive country. So much traffic passing through. The French always impress with their different types of accommodation. Light years ahead of us in the UK. I suspected you were around Burgos. Done those trips so many times and Burgos seems to be point when fatigue sets in and overnight stop required. You sum it up really well. The excitement of travel. The variations in the regions. Your narration and music and photography is excellent. Better than anything on TV. Thanks.

I did all this with mates on motorbikes more than once. The Ferry staff are very helpful indeed. Had a good breakfast and chin wag. Eventually we all switched to the Eurotunnel. It cuts 2 hours off the journey and more time for riding. Nice bike on the trailer. There used to be a classic bike camping site near Mansell but I think he moved years ago. Our journey was slightly different. England to Faro. Calais down through France. Across into Spain. Down to Portugal and turn right. For the huge bike rally at Faro. Brilliant roads and great weather. The Pamplona mountain road between France and Spain is wonderful scenery for photos if you get a chance or ever did decide to go that way? There is even a little shop half way up that sells ice cold coke cola in bottles and a bench outside to sit. Enjoy.
