The Mills Family

7 жыл бұрын

This week we take a field trip to Rapid City. We also have a "Secret Service Agent" challenge, a big spring snowstorm, and a nice visit with Grandma Fern in which we get some interesting stories from yesteryear. Judah and Justus each have special orders arriving from China this week, too. We're just beginning to get some sort of a bug sweeping the family. Justus, Eden and Claudia are the first to come down with it.
Our son Thomas is in 9th grade. Asher is 7th grade, Judah is 6th grade, Justus is 4th grade, Eden is 2nd grade and 4-year-old Solomon is in Kindergarten. Sophia is 3 years old and Claudia is 19 months. We've used ACE Curriculum with some Charlotte Mason-style electives for all of our years of homeschooling. (We've homeschooled all of our children from the beginning.)

I love the "Secret Service Agent" idea, this would be a delightful family to have as neighbors! It's a great way to raise great people, and as a retired teacher, i think this family is doing great things!

Andrea Mills Do you make your kids do fitness grams yearly. We do them for our school once a year. It is where you run a timed mile,see how many pushups and situps you can do,measure height weight etc

We don't do it every year, but we've had many fitness checkups doing just that. The kids always have fun showing me what they can do.

I hope we get to hear more Grandma Fern stories. She is a delight. I am 65, and never had children, so I don't have anyone to tell my stories to. I am sure it is as much fun for her as it is you (and now us, your viewers).

It may be "boring" to some, but I really enjoyed the scenery. Thanks for sharing your "road footage." It makes me miss those long trips.

Asher reminds me a lot of my husband at that age (We have known each other since we were children). The dry sense of humor and how he often looks grumpy buy I can just see he is doing it because he thinks it's funny! Are people sometimes unsure if he is joking or serious with his humor? Even now many years later people still get caught out with my husband's dry humor.

Here's a question I never thought about before. (Solomon's "shot" picture actually brought it to mind.) Do you have your children vaccinated? What's your thinking on that? Also, I love that you explained one particular item for your trip by sharing that there's definitely no baby on the way yet. As much as I hope you get your baby soon, that did make me smile. It's a very sweet way of thinking of things. :-)
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
Our first 4 kids were vaccinated because we just got put on the birth assembly line like everyone else and I never questioned it. Once I started researching for myself, I decided there's really no benefit and it's potentially harmful, so we stopped doing it. I know it's a controversial topic, but it's only that way because it's beneficial for those in power to make it that way. (Of course, they trot out fake epidemics every once in awhile to get people scared and get them to keep taking them. One of the first things I heard when "ebola" was breaking out was that 2 different companies were working on bringing ebola vaccines to market. Why, I wondered, would they [the US] have spent all that time and money making a vaccine for a disease we'd never had? They had to have been working on it for years before the "epidemic." I guess enough people are catching on that they had to come up with some horrifying disease to get everyone on board for getting a shot again. I'm not sure what the real purpose for vaccines it, but it's not disease prevention. Bill Gates said we'd achieve a reduced population through vaccines. At least twice I've read about vaccines being used to covertly sterilize people in Africa.) I'm not worried one way or the other about it. We live in a world where everything's potentially harmful. And when everything's harmful, nothing is... if that makes sense. I'm not worried about harm coming to my kids from their vaccines and I'm not worried about harm for my kids that haven't had vaccines. I don't believe a word of the conventional wisdom on most any topic. (The book Dissolving Illusions gives all sorts of historical documentation on what was going on surrounding the original small pox vaccinations. It's all a bunch of smoke and mirrors and drama just like it is today. The powerful intelligentsia of the world are sheep dressed in wolves' clothing dressed in sheeps' clothing. :) They only have knowledge and power because we believe they do! )
@theoriginaledi
@theoriginaledi 7 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for the nice long, thoughtful response! I personally do believe that vaccines are beneficial, but I also absolutely respect your intelligence, the hard work and thought you've put into the matter, and of course your right to raise your children in the way you find to be right for them. I'm happy to disagree respectfully and, as far as I'm concerned, we're friends either way. :-)
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
I get asked about this a lot and I usually don't respond because it really doesn't matter to me what someone else does and I don't care to get into a big thing over it. I figured you've been friends with me long enough to be okay with what I had to say whether you agree or not and I was right! Thank you for that!

Andrea Mills You're exactly right about the "newest" outbreak. I remember just about 20 or so yrs ago,they were causing people to get antibiotics and hoard them for no reason. Do you remember when they said "White Bread" was causing Cancer? People have been eating White Bread(sandwich bread) how many years? Some of the things that come up or out to cause fear and panic. My daddy has always joked that the weather people on tv have a contract with local stores. SCARE THE VIEWERS ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM RUN OUT IN FEAR AND BUY STUFF THEY'LL NOT NEED! HAHA

I do notice that in rual areas vaccination is less I am currently in California and with many people who venture in and out of our state we had a measles outbreak at Disneyland that killed 25 people (children and elderly included) Any thoughts on if rural vs population play a part in the vaccination annexation
