I've heard several people talking about 4.1.1 upgrade but haven't received it myself. I did just get an upgrade that said it would make the miles to empty more accurate but didn't say that it was 4.1.1 it was also something to do with the tire pressure sensors. I believe it was an older upgrade that continued to fail because of low 12 v battery. I had to charge to 100 % to get that upgrade to complete

When I received 4.1.1 the mileage went from 187, 200 miles at 100% to 300 321 and then I received 4.1.2 and I will say the estimation is pretty good however it uses some weirdo parameters to calculate that, but I don’t seem to care. I just want an accurate arrival percentage in it seems to do pretty well now with the new software.

To say that Fords navigation system is lacking is an understatement. Must be a real let down from driving a Tesla.

Agree. The Ford UI is terrible and that charge stop was painfully slow. Tesla is far superior in these regards.

Thanks for the energy check! That charge stop seemed really long. Would it have been better to charger hop instead of dealing with the 50kW rate? I’m also curious why you navigated manually to the charger instead of choosing one from the navigation route?

The Nav in the truck frankly Sucks. Some people use CarPlay or Android Auto but this 2010 era interface has numerous operational issues. When traveling it’s important to know how much range you will have upon arrival. CP and AA does not give you this. Do you are forced to use the internal Nav simply to show arrival range/battery percentage. If you plan a trip it will add charging but these suggested stops are usually ill timed or wants you to stop at an AC charger. I found it best to use the predicted range as shown on the display, it seems to be pretty accurate, and find a high power DC charger and navigate to it. It’s allot of screwing around but necessary to have a good trip. Would I love a Tesla class navigation system, oh yes, but Ford is just coming out of the dark ages on its User Interface (UI) and won’t be there anytime soon I think. I hope they would but….

Hi Dave, when setting a route via the onboard nav does the system automatically add charging station options or is there a setting to enable them?

I try to use the internal navigation because I like to see what the lightning thinks. My arrival percentage looks like and that’s valuable. However, when it adds charging stops, you never know where it’s going to Adam, even though you specify DC fast charging only you get some weird types of DC fast charging there’s plenty of 20 and 25 kW DC fast chargers around and with 131 kg one hour battery in the lightning That would take four hours to charge at 20 kW so the navigation in the addition of charging stops sucks so right now I prefer to choose my destinations manually and navigate directly to a fast DC charger myself

Nice of the Tesla driver to take up one of 3 EA spots available. There are 2 Supercharger locations in Knoxville, both along I-40/I-75. Must have been a Sams Club or Walmart shopper topping it off?

I suspect it’s a few cents cheaper at EA than Tesla. I think more importantly EA needs to up their game on chargers availability they have only 4 stalls and most of the time some of them don’t work.

@@evdave528 - I agree there should be more (EA) chargers for that location. Should be 8 stalls immediately, and a total of 12 or 16 coming soon. We’ll see how soon.

So it started with a 70 mile buffer and ended at the first Charger with a 18 mile buffer? Is that degradation simply because the cold weather?

If your talking about your Lightning, it could be. Remember, leave your truck plugged in and turn in the heat inside or use Departure time in the app but leave it plugged in. When your ready to go unplug and you will not use the battery to heat things up.

How do you compare the Lightning to Model Y in terms of comfort and quietness ?

Ford bigger and heavier some 1500 pounds heavier so it rides smoother akin to a fully loaded Y in ride. Ford sits higher always a nice thing to sit higher. Much larger than the Y and depending on where your going could be harder to manage streets and parking. Tesla UI and Supercharger network top notch, none better. Ford quieter

It does have its limitations indeed but the UI is the biggest pain in the A I love the truck and using my 5 years of EV Road trip experience I can manage the charging.

Electric cars are a joke! We drove our '06 Lexus 7500 miles in 43 days and stopped at many out of the way places. Didn't see one electric car except in the big cities. To allow a charging station to determine your destination seems a bit ludicrous to me. 5 minutes to gas up and one hour to charge up! Try a longer route and destination anxiety becomes an issue for sure. This was a brand new truck carrying nothing but the driver and his dogs. What happens in very cold weather when you've got more of a load? On top of that these things cost a small fortune. Forget it!

@@evdave528 These things aren't even environmentally friendly. Child labor is used in South America to mine for minerals for batteries. Most countries where this mining takes place have no laws against the destruction to the environment. The damn things won't run without electricity generated from fossil fuels. The BS on these cars goes on and on...... I suggest you grow a brain.do a little more research..... By the way I live right near the Tesla factory and these cars are no great panacea!
