Road Trip to Mt Buller Snowy Mountains Australia

We went Mt Buller to experience snow during winter season (01/08/2020). It's a remarkable experience.
It's around 3 hours drive from Melbourne. Mount Buller is a resort village in eastern Victoria, Australia. It’s known for its downhill ski slopes and terrain parks. Bike trails and footpaths also crisscross the mountain. The National Alpine Museum of Australia has exhibits on the country’s alpine regions and chronicles the history of winter sports in Australia. Mountain peaks, waterfalls and high plains characterize the nearby Alpine National Park.

We didn’t use wheel chains in Mt Buller. But if you are planning to visit Mt Hotham, you must use wheel chains

Fuel up your car before heading to mountains. Carry water and food as it is expensive on the top, also huge wait just to get anything. Bring your own gear - boots, gloves, outer wear. You can rent ski gear in Mansfield. Start early in between 4-6 if you're driving from Melb! Traffic is huge especially on weekends. Other than that. DRIVE SLOWLY.

We didn’t use wheel chains on our trip to Mt Buller. But it is mandatory to use wheel chains in Mt Hotham.

I am at Mount Buller right now. There is no snow, I've never seen Mount Buller without snow. (This was Tuesday 17th January 2023)

If you want to see snow in Mt buller, you should visit during winter season in between July to September.
