That engine looks like it fell victim to a person assembling a motor out of fairly good components, but with less than exceptional knowledge, and less than great decision making. That "snot" looks similar to what I found when I pulled a motor apart once where someone had used some grease that WAS NOT acceptable for assembly lube .... as assembly lube. That could also be the green coating, dunno for sure. At least she's rebuildable and has good reusable components! Great news! And the Durango is the series that brought me to your channel, so I'm SUPER excited (as a Durango owner) to see her get finished!

I kind of feel like maybe that clutch was second hand, or third.........possibly pulled out of a junk yard. Probably wasn't in great condition but was cheap enough for the build. I had a friend pull a high dollar clutch out of a wrecked corvette. He got it for a third of a brand new one. It looked good, but they didn't know how long it had been in the junk yard. Three weeks later he had to pull it out and the friction pads had disintegrated. Looked like pieces of flakes in the housing. It came apart in layers. He was glad he didn't drive it hard. Could've been catastrophic. Needless to say, he saved his money and invested in a brand new high power clutch.

i love that you dont give a shit about calling out bad parts when you see them... so many other youtubers will make excuses for shit parts because they want to get sponsors someday and worry that some obscure youtube video will come back to haunt them or something... also, the reason i know you are a genius is because ive seen you now on multiple occasions, rip an engine down to nothing and just toss all the nuts and bolts all over the place, and when it comes time to re-assemble, you just know where all of it goes without hesitation. it takes a genuinely intelligent person to be able to do that. It is so nice to see someone who reallllly actually knows what they are doing, and what they want out of their projects. part of me selfishly hopes you always are a smaller youtuber because mo money mo problems. i love the channel how it is... but i definitely want you to be the biggest automotive youtuber someday because you definitely deserve it.

Awesome work Dave. You get through work in 1 video that some channels take 10 videos. That’s about exactly the underside of Japanese imported cars we see in NZ (including my Suzukis) so will be watching how you go about repairs. Also - you seem super content with the way the shop is coming together. Shows in your videos. Great to see. Cheers 🤙🤙🤙

Most car's are designed to jack on pinch welds but only at certain places behind the front wheel and before the rear wheel, a lot of people don't realise that it's got thick metal at that point not all the way along the side, all the best

It's a lot of work organising a new shop, but you'll get there eventually. Have you thought about building a new spray booth next to the shop, as it would save having to use that blow-up booth. I don't know anyone on KZbin that can spray paint as well as you. You really should do a "how to paint" video. It would be very educational. All the best from Queensland Australia, where it won't stop raining and this is the dry season!

throw that clutch in the garbage. Never use unsprung clutches on these things, it will destroy the gearbox in short order. Also reinforce the clutch fork if it isn’t already done, they tend to bend in half with any clutch stronger than OEM

Oh and for the record, don’t EVER lift that car from the pinch welds or the floor supports, they are NOT “frame rails” and they can’t support the weight, they’ll all smash in. The proper lift points are the front of the subframe in the rear, and the lower control arm bushings in the front

on a sidenote, i think you could help your channel out a bit if you repeated yourself a little bit. you kept talking about cerakoting internals but its unclear exactly why you would cerakote internal engine components. also, how did the pulsar become my new favorite build? as much as i loved the durango, and my ultimate favorite, the 3000gt, the pulsar just seems so damn quirky and awesome. I cant wait to see you restore this car!
