What started off as a box of sticks is now a bike, an actual real-life bike that you can ride! Dave takes it for a test drive

DIY tip. The easy way to build a bamboo bike is to buy a used bike and chopping out parts of a frame at a time, and essentially leave lugs to attach the bamboo to. No need for jig etc.

A very interesting series and an excellent result. The bike looks great! You should be very proud of how it's turned out. All that sanding really paid off! ;)

The cold day spent in a shed actually doing it might suggest otherwise 😉

Interesting series, chainstay wheel clearance is a big negative for me. Good luck in your race.

Enjoyed this series. Something a bit different from the norm both video wise and bike wise. Love the look of the end product.

The ride quality of bamboo is quite nice. It tends to absorb quite a lot of road vibration. Similar to this post I found after making a frame and now having ridden it for a couple years (on and off road) that for many of us we assume a DIY built frame would be inferior to the professional custom frames. I don't doubt the great many hours builders put into their frame designs and the exactness they are after. However building a frame this way proves to be incredibly similar in feel and function. Which again proves the resiliency of the double triangle design!

lol this is literally the same colour and frame shape as the bamboo bike I built... I'm now gonna build too more using prebuilt lugs

Great job. Thoroughly enjoyed the series and aesthetically speaking the bamboo/blue paint scheme is quite unique.

Certainly is unique, lots of people looking as we rode out to film

We didn't want to push our luck by drilling more holes into it 😂

Interesting concept, but man the finish on the blue parts looks very very bad! Must have been sanded by a blind man with numb hands!
