Glad you revisited this game again. So many options and combinations to use in the play. I can't imagine this game ever going out of style. It just merges so many nice elements together in a very interesting and cohesive package. And as you say, the auction mechanism is just so cool. Even the base game on it's own without any expansion is just a great experience. Matagot has an awesome trilogy with Cyclades, Kemet and Inis. I love them all but I still think Inis is the easiest to learn and is so much fun. But I'd bring any of these to the table at any time, just need the right group.

Agreed! Inis is currently my favorite area control game. It finds its way to the table more often than my other “dudes on a map” type games because it’s generally easier to teach, set up, and clean up.

I might place this third in the Cyclades / Kemet / Inis trio, but that is no criticism really as I love all three. Preach it!

Not sure why Inis is part of the ‘trilogy’. Giants should be included instead?

@@BoardGameBollocks I guess because it also has a mythology theme and fits into the same weight class. But beside that they do not have much in common. So maybe there is a better explanation why it is part of this 'trilogy'.

Trilogy Schmilogy who cares? Cyclades Kemet Inis are three outstanding games, Giants is a worker-placement where I can’t get the hats to go on the heads...

small correction at 2:16 mate: you are in fact allowed to rebid on a god you previously bid on in the same round, you're just not allowed to immediately rebid on the same god you just got outbid on.

Bought this recently due to your recommendation. I haven't got a chance to play it yet, but what I love about it already is that it is entirely language independent. You could be playing it with a mixed language group where the people don't really understand each other and it would still work :-)

Great review. Love the style of presentation. I have come here from a new Cyclades Legendary post on BGG asking about the new version. Like the OP in that thread I am completely new to Cyclades and am unsure what version to get out of (Meeples)/(Fancy Minis)/(Fancy Minis + Cities) at 60/100/120 Euros plus 23 Euros postage to UK. From what I have read the Hades expansion might be missing, but I am unsure about that. Do you have any comments/advice for a completely new player? At the moment there seems to be no KS exclusives for the Meeple version, so if I wait until retail I might be able to get a much better postage rate. However, the chances of getting the Mini version by then might be out the window.

We've finally gotten around to playing Cyclades and it's great. Do you always play with the expansions? The new board included with Titans looks like it completely changes the game. Is it better than the original board?

We don’t always play with the expansions. We add in monuments and the CK crossover almost every game. Titans makes the game more aggressive and combat oriented and it’s great but at the moment I prefer vanilla Cyclades. Hades is by far the weakest of the expansions but still adds some great stuff like extra gods and the artefacts. It’s just a bloody good game however you decide to play it.

Revisited this recently after long time. A great design for sure, but I must admit, it felt a bit too swingy and mean at times. Years of low interaction euro games got me soft I guess. Not sure how I feel about Cyclades now.
