Agreed , I think he is the only reviewer where if he doesn’t like a game he will state it plainly. None of the beating around the bush , being afraid of harsh criticism because they may offend the newest ks game. I swear a great majority of board game KZbinrs seem like they “are walking on eggshells” when it comes to reviewing a game, especially if it is game with all the usual ks stuff. More and more I use board game KZbin more for purely gameplay and how to play purposes as opposed to getting a review.

I got a post taken off BGG just because I had a different feeling about the cover of the Lost Ruins of Arnak than some woke person who had an issue with a white man on the cover and questioned the diversity. I didn't even confront anyone, I just didn't think it was a problematic cover. That told me just how woke the BGG moderators are.

I don't care what side of the aisle you're on. I'm just glad to see a reviewer who doesn't buy into hype and isn't afraid to shit on a game if you feel it needs it. I see too many videos with reviewers who are afraid to say anything too negative for whatever reason. Giving an opinion that you don't like a game (or some aspect of it) can actually be very helpful. People just have to be smart enough to figure out if your negative opinion of a game might align with theirs.

Being banned from two subreddits on 3D printing for asking "uncomfortable" questions myself while helping to solve others problems stupid me finally got two things: 1) ("offended") mob rules 2) administrators of these communities are interested only in growth: the more active members there are, the higher is the ad revenue.

I quite like this channel to be honest. When you cut through it all, this is someone giving their opinion who is likely actually buying games out of their own pocket and telling you what they think. 99.9% of the channels out there are sent tons of free crap and are incentivised to say nice things because it didn't come out of their own pocket and they want more free stuff. I don't agree with every review, but it is nice to hear a different perspective from all the big American content creators that have completely over produced, over the top approach to everything. This channel has saved me a bit of money as most channels tell you to buy every big shiny game they are promoting, rather than be honest about its faults.

i got a temp suspension from bgg for saying i disliked the changes being made by Nisei to Android Netrunner. an admin said i was being dismissive and that "being dismissive was against the rules". i argued with the admin that having an opposing view isnt dismissive, it's having another view, but they didn't care. some of the admins are militant social justice warriors who are so extreme, they go after anyone who dares to disagree. it's not all of them, but there's a couple of cunts for sure & all it takes is one. you got one of the best game channels out there.

People say that it's negative and all of that bollocks, but honestly this is one of the very few channels that I appreciate quite a lot. Not only it gives an honest opinion (which is subjective, of course), it also delivers it in a dry humor and very funny way. I don't remember last time I laughed so much on youtube, it's absolutely great. People who don't get humor or just straight up thick in the head probably won't get this. When my choices in board game media are 1) bought and paid for KS hype videos 2) hypocrites praising games about Viking Raids and Qin Shi Huangdi while making you feel like a piece of shit for playing a pirate or western themed game 3) people who get so many free games they complain about the packaging and the boxes their free games came in....the more and more I appreciate we have a channel like yours. There's a game about Romans in Britannia, and some people were looking at the moral aspects of it, and I just couldn't work out why it would bother people so much

@@HarleyFirestorm It's a sad state of affairs if that's happening when boardgamers meet up to game. In our largish group (Mondays 10-15 people, tuesdays 25-35 people and a changing cast each week), there's no lecturing or gate-keeping of what is played. If anyone finds a game troubling, there are other games to choose from and no-one would be forced into playing something they didn't want to. In reality such cases are always about the type of game (e.g. avoiding social deduction, or fluxx/munchkin, or dexterity). As for subjects like colonialism, they are rather infrequent and anyone who brings such a game seems to have the common sense to be open about it. Most of the time (e.g. Maracaibo) the theme is so loose that it really is a stretch to find issue (though I acknowledge that some online activists want to make that connection). For myself, my partner is Maori, so I've been happy to agree not to buy games involving / about colonialism. Conversely she's got no issue with me playing them when I'm out gaming. Such compromise is sensible and practical, but not appreciated by activists on either side of the debate who seek out confrontations. Whether they see themselves as champions of free speech or diversity, their descent into extremes and trench warfare 'debate', is something I don't appreciate. Give me a nuanced discussion over shit-slinging any day!

It works for me , it you have to keep creating a profile as it gets auto deleted after 5 days . Haven’t found away around that .

I find the binary good/bad mindset so prevalent in the US. I don't agree with all you say, indeed far from it, but I do appreciate the insight into board games (and agree that there's far more nuance than the simplistic opinions expressed in the reddits you quoted). The thought of banning someone because we disagree with their opinions is for me a dangerous path to go down. True there are situations where it can go too far and even I'd support censoring, but the degree to which that happens on BGG is ludicrous. Fine if they'd chosen to shut down a discussion with a final statement of their position, but it's a laughable pretence at holding a discussion, when the majority of comments are removed, and some of the posters of those comments (and indeed sometimes people that simply *liked* them) are banned from the site. The net result sadly drives people away from the behaviours of mutual respect, when treated that way. Dialogue is the right way, even though it takes more effort to manage and moderate (moderation being far wider than deletions and banning, which should be an absolute last resort & rarity on a well-moderated site).

I encountered many, many people on both BGG and boardgame subreddits who are very elitist and definitely NOT inclusive in any shape or form, so many of them not understanding satire and honest direct opinions of Mr. Bollocks here is not unexpected to me at all.

I just love the fact that someone who's a complete stranger to me, made the effort to call me a "troubled individual" for watching this channel. Well, if there is anything that is troubling me, then it is the idea that BGG can ban you from their site without a warning or any reason given and that you cannot take the content you posted to that site off it when you're banned. Lots to think about my future endorsement of the site and whether I will ever donate any money to them. Anyhow, if anything this is a lesson that the internet is full of people who are having opinions, but also a quite substantial number of people who seem to believe that it is their duty to assume the missionary position and penetrate other people thoughts and minds with their ideals and definitions of kindness and correctness. Just don't let them get to you, don't read that Reddit shit and keep making your videos and my eternal gratitude will be yours.
