End the polls. I have already found the album of the year : Unseen World by Band-Maid. This song doesn't represent the overall sound of the album that is very hard/prog rock with elements of metal and grunge as well. But as Tank said; this is not a copy and paste. They embraced all those different genres and made their own... After all it is a brand new genre : the Band-Maid one.

This MV has the potential to blow up as it has just the right mix of undeniable groove, catchiness, well crafted MV, easy to understand lyrics and all the usual intricacies of the BM sound, without being as complex/aggressive like their core stuff which might be too much for casual mainstream audiences. Kanami’s maturity as a songwriter is evident here. Even the English lyrics though still rough, is comparatively better than all of their previous ones. It feels more aligned, there’s less inconsistencies and the wordplay with their previous releases are a nice touch. Miku did a stellar job here. At their current point, I honestly can’t think of a better way to appeal to the masses, without having to compromise who they are and what their music is about. I truly hope this gets the exposure it deserves. Everything about this is screaming “This is who We are, This is our Best, This is our Rock!” Having known them for a while now, when I watched this for the first time it felt so gratifying that I almost teared up. This is special, not just as an ode to their beginnings but also a declaration of their determination to keep doing what they do best in the years to come.

This song, along with their 80's style power ballad "Daydreaming" is definitely commercial radio viable in the West. Would love to see them get even more traction over here. Commercial success in the West is very difficult with the language barrier. But Kpop group BTS has shown that it is possible, but even they have moved towards using much more English in their songs, with their last single "Dynamite" being a full English song. Maybe a full English song for the soundtrack to a movie might do the trick.

Cool reaction, I like your breakdown of their gear. I just have one bone to pick about the info given about the difference between a guitar with 22 or 24 frets. The number of frets has nothing to do with the scale of the guitar. The scale is the distance from the saddle on the bridge to the nut. The Custom 22 and Custom 24 both have a 25 inch (PRS standard scale). (Also as a side note I must applaud you for posting the pic of the 513 as an example of a 22 fret neck guitar.) The difference is that the 24 fret neck fretboard goes further into the body which changes where the neck pickup is placed. Now it is true that the range of the guitar is longer because it gives the player two more notes per string. But range and scale are not interchangeable. I know only a guitar nerd like myself would only pick up on that (no pun intended), but you strike me as one who not only enjoys music, but also appreciates accurate information.

Nice video as always Tank! 🤘🏻 I would appreciate if you could check out BAND-MAID's song "flying high" from their previous album "CONQUEROR". There is no official video for the song but someone uploaded the audio on KZbin. Or you can react to the audio from other streaming services. "flying high" has the same classical hard-rock groove vibes as "Manners" or even as "The Dragon Cries" also from "CONQUEROR". For the fans, "Manners" is not a new sound from BAND-MAID because they've already did it in the past albums but this time, the production sound and especially the vocals on "Unseen World" are way better. On a final note, IMO "flying high" is BAND-MAID's finest hard-rock song and it's also the song that have the shape of Miku's screams to come 🐦🎤🎸 "yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah, YEAH YEAH!!"

There is something still distinctly "Japanese" about most Japanese rock bands. I don't know what it is, I'm not musically literate, but it's the scales they prefer, or the chord progression, or some other playing or writing style that I hear in most Japanese bands that I recognize as "Japanese" even without the lyrics. This band seems to have made a very conscious decision to sound like Western rock, and specifically 70s and 80s rock, but they still sound modern even with that obvious influence. I hear other bands that try to capture that sound, but they never do it for me; they come off sounding like parodies of classic rock to me. Most rock acts today can be classified as "post" something, or "new" something, or some other sideroad that branches off of rock music. And I like a lot of that stuff. But those acts, while still on a good road, have travelled a long way from the Rock and Roll Main Street. This band is still square in that lane. It's a little more modern, but it is purely, distinctly, almost definitively rock music, no modifiers or disclaimers necessary. And I think why they appeal to a certain demographic, namely the people who remember that rock music when it was just rock music.

Seems like you haven't done any more B-M in half a year (no big deal) but you might want to check out the latest, which is two songs in one video: Manners + Black Hole. While the live version of Manners is great and has some new things added to it, since you already reacted to that song here, you can skip it, but give "Black Hole" a spin. Think you'll get a kick out of it. And if you don't, check it out on your own time (if you haven't already). I know you're gearing up to covering unsigned bands and lesser known artists. Thanks

I think it would be great if you did a dual review of "Warning" by Band-Maid - to compare the MV with the live performance. The MV is (literally) on fire; the live from last February's online concert is a true showcase of their live playing. OR, if you haven't seen it yet, there's "About Us" (a single that is NOT on their album), a love song to the fans who can't see them in person due to you know what - Misa is outdoing herself on her new bass...

Hey Tank. I'm not really a big fan of Reaction videos I sometimes get the feeling that some people listen to them to make sure that their friends would approve Of some music and they just want to make sure before they admit they like a group or song whatever. I ran across band-maid right after I heard Waggaki band and they are also great. But but i consider them progressive rock (I guess) Not sure what that means . Unless its using changing time signatures and being based on folk music instead of R & B. Waggaki band reminds me of Jethro Tull partly because of the flute But also because its based on traditional Japanese music ala Tull and British folk music. Any how i don't usually listen to music on the tube because i have a lot of other interests. I had never heard of any of thesenew Japanese groups and they don't really come up in normal trends if you don't use japanese characters. Anyway I heard Waggaki and it was great but the whole rest of the page was full of i guess top japanese bands so I thought cool. Looked around and saw the BAND-MAID logo on Thrill and there was the band in their maid uniforms and they were beautiful and having just seen how good Waggaki was i pushed play. Thrill starts fast and strong and by 20 seconds int the song i loved it. And since i have seen a bunch of their performances and videos on the tube and they are great muscians and they are beautiful which is really amazing because cute girls can often get what they want just by virtue of their looks. Now Tank what you do on your reactions that is really good is first you put your self in the preview but you also front the group and don't get in front of the performers which a lot of Reactors do which is pretty bad because the musicians are the stars not the reactor but thats just my opinion. You give your review of the Band and a few details of the stage and show setup. I liked that because you mentioned on one performance about the lasers and the amount of them and i wasn't thinking how much all that gear costs and brings to a show. Very much comments that a good Roadie/Tech would make. Then you went around and Identified all the gear. And that was very impressive because a lot of japanese groups have a lot of custom versions of gear that i have never even seen before. And this group on the official videos use a ton of gear they change costumes and specially the guitars. Mikupo uses stuuf i had never even heard of specialy those beautiful engraved fronts. You immediatly identified them as PRS guitars and pointed out that they were british and that Ron Woods and other notable brits used them. Now that to me is worthwhile information and you even put little bios about the gear on the screen. Nice touch. There are many examples like that make your videos more than regular reaction videos. So i will be returning to see some of your other work. Oh if you take a notion check out Waggakki band - Hoshidzukiyo. And Yousei Teikoku - Astral Dogma this band uses some really custom show gear thats really unusual. Great work. Liked and subscribed.

the most prominent time I recall you not likening the Japanese vocals was for...LOVEBITES "When Destinies Align". Never thought it was because of the accents. Weird people thought that was your hang up. I figure if it was you would have come out and said so. And Asami's voice is somewhat divisive in the J-Rco/Metal community to begin with. Some of that comes from her being an R&B and Soul singer, before being tapped to join LOVEBITES which is, IIRC her first time ever singing rock/metal. Also IMO that particular track was the least dynamic example of her singing. If you ever do revisit them, I think you may enjoy Holy Wars or Empty Daydream more.

Slapshock from the Philippines is a great listen. I've listened to a few of their songs, but gonna listen to more tomorrow on my day off while doing my taxes so my taxes suck less. Arka'n is a great band from Africa and is a fun listen. Southeast Desert Eagle, the Aboriginal Metal Band from Australia. Well...more classic rock, but still a great listen. Yaksa and Mysterain from China are other great examples. I also remember a few from Korea, but do not remember the names. If you're looking for one of Band-Maid's harder tracks. RINNE, pronounced "reen-EY" (I believe Japanese for Reincarnation) is what you're looking for. Word of warning: Normally, Live is always the best way to go with Band-Maid. But I'd watch the official music video if you're going the KZbin route. Miku has progressed alot on guitar. Kanami just shreds on this album. Chemical Reaction on this album is a banger. Kanami said she uses second channel, third channels. I posted a pic on discord of Kanamis pedal board. Moratorium you might like, the crowd interactions are great. Seikei just works the crowd. Puzzle, is great, so many guitar riffs in it. Other bands could make many songs out of. Blooming is so good. Kanami has beautiful solo in it and a long outro solo, and a beautiful transition, with great harmonies from Seikeand Miku. For me I love Band Maid, their in my favorite bands of all time. Nemophila, another Japanese all female band, I also love. They trend harder. Singer Mayu so good, and does screams. Raikei is a great song to start with. Like BM, they just have a sound i love, and they smile, and seem to love playing together like BM. Rolling Quartz from Korea is a female band im liking now. They also have a great sound, and have their own style/image. Like you, some of the other bands i like, and their all very talented, but I just dont get into them. The Dragon cries, is another BM song , where Seikei sings in Englishand and i . Very Led Zepplinish. Manners is kinda based off of dragon cries. The video produced in NYC, Tony Visconti worked on it.But it's said Manners is based off The dragon cries.

i know you weren't really impressed with the vocals from lovebites, on your first listen, but one has to agree that considering the music style ,the voice is not what you would expect. but she does have a killers voice. what i would like to see is your reaction to ;holy war, the guitars bass and drums make me think of dragon force, or metallic. absolutely love this song. and since your really honest, and know your music i need to hear from you. thanks for bringing out an honest reaction. you have made me see the difference between just listening to music, and actually hearing the differences what a band plays. thankyou.

All of the new album, especially "I still seek revenge". MISA hands must have been on fire at the end of recording this track :O

They all crush it, but MISA really is on fire this album. I don't know if it was her going to Kanami to get some more emphasis on the bass, which was already killer, or Kanami just deciding to write these sick lines for MISA, but whatever it was it's so good.

Love the reaction Tank. How about reacting to some Band Maid songs the don’t get a lot of love from reactors like Bubble or Start Over.

Hey Tank, maybe try their song The Dragon Cries. It has a cool very classic, I think, groove to the music and its one of their rare songs sung totally in English. Think you may like it. :-)

If you're looking for older Band-Maid, I recommend going for "Thrill". I think it was their first video and it's very stripped down compared to where they are now. In interviews about this album, they said they wanted to go back to the old Band-Maid and evolve from there. It shows!

you should check out the live version of manners, black hole absolutely loved them. black hole is off the charts, totally different from anything the've done so far. makes me think of dragon force, its that fast.
