Fun fact: the band name "Beast in Black" and the many themes and subjects in the songs were inspired by the dark fantasy manga "Berserk"! And yes, this band's sound is very "cheesy" sounding in the best way possible. Very fun, energetic, and the melodies will get stuck in your head all day. Like many have mentioned, the self titled song "Beast in Black", and "Die by the Blade" are some good listens! I'd also reccomend "Zodd the Immortal" which is more aggressive and I think really shows what Yannis is capable of.

This was the first song I listened to when I first found them and totally thought it was a female voice. One of the guitarists left Battle Beast and founded Beast In Black and is the "beast" as he does some very interesting growls/screams. As Battle Beast is female fronted i thought it was female as well until i got to other songs. Also Yannis's cover of Ghost Love Score is great. I almost universally hear Kamelot lumped in with symphonic metal
@Renkaru2 жыл бұрын
@@rominesque2921 It's a rather common misconception. I'm not much of a genre gatekeeper/nerd, but just personally I think of "symphonic metal" not really a genre, since there are so many genres within metal that use symphonic metal. From Nightwish and Kamelot to Fleshgod Apocalypse and Shadow of Intent. Just like with pirate metal and viking metal, they're just loose terms describing an aspect of the music, like themes or a musical element, like the use of orchestration.
@rominesque29212 жыл бұрын
@@Renkaru I'd argue the symphonic metal genre as its commonly understood definitely has its own trappings both musical and aesthetic, which Kamelot falls into quite a few of. Especially post-Silverthorn.

@@rominesque2921 I agree and see where you're coming from, but its still power metal at the essence of their music. Their overall song writing is still very much indicative of that. Labels and genres don't mean that much to me, I just like know about the specifics of a band, and understand their nuances. All I would say is Symphonic Metal alone is not a genre, but you can definitely say Kamelot is Symphonic Power Metal, which would be correct in explaining their sound and aesthetic. If that makes sense.
