If you like theatrical productions you should definitely check out any live performance of Avatar (who actually played at the same time at W:O:A 2019 as Powerwolf on the third main stage ;) ). Other bands I can also recommend who have more of a theatrical production are Carach Angren, Trollfest and Eisbrecher.

I love Powerwolf, only got into them a couple of years back but was instantly hooked. I agree with you Tank, they get labelled as power metal but often have more of a true metal sound, I’d say the same about Unleash The Archers too. Other songs by Powerwolf you should check out : Army Of The Night We Drink Your Blood Stossgebet Sacred and Wild Also you need to get onto the bands Orden Ogan and Wind Rose. 🤘🏻🙂

Yeah, it was time for some Powerwolf... but to be honest, that's not the song I'd have gone with. Personal recommendation for the next one : Armata Strigoi (live at Bloodstock 2019). I mean... Demons is a fun song, but there many more that I think are a better representation of Powerwolf : We Drink Your Blood, Incense and Iron, Werewolves of Armenia, Sanctified by Dynamite, Resurrection by Erection, Moscow After Dark, All We Need Is Blood, Dead Boys Dont Cry, Amen and Attack, Army of the Night... Yeah, that's quite a lot, but still, I'd recommend Armata Strigoi next ! :)

I totally agree, in my opinion, the "issue" is Demon's are a girl best friend is more "commercial" like and reach a largest audience than their other tracks, although it doesn't represent Powerwolf the best of way. I feel just the same way with "Awakening" for UTA, and maybe GLS for Nightwish. All are really good song, maybe not the best, but the ones who reached the most people, and so the most recommended to KZbinr. But heh, still makes people know of these bands (escpecially in the US) and they're then free to check out their other stuff, so that's all good :)

I lived in the same neighbourhood and you could met him in the bars around there sometimes. My favorite bar there is owned by their original drummer and falk/christian was there too pretty often when they werent touring!

@@gerdokurt @TankTheTech Falk is not a keyboardist but an organist (he is very picky with this fact). A lot of songs for their albums were actually recorded in a church on a real organ! He really brings life to the show because he didn't want to be another "boring keyboardist that just stands around doing nothing half of the time". This is one of the reasons why they are so awesome live.

There are a lot of great Powerwolf songs out there. What makes them different from other bands is their lyrics. It can be described as Werewolf Metal. Some lyrics are not for younger viewers like Resurrection by erection.

Powerwolf is such an entertaining liveband. They really know how to interact with the crowd and get them along. They weren't that known outside of Germany a few years ago, but already back then they were a headlining band. It's one of those band you can see a hundred times live and still go to their next show. As for other songs, there are so many great ones, but Resurrection by Erection, Armata Strigoi, We Drink Your Blood, All We Need is Blood and Incence & Iron are all great places to start.

One of my most memorable heavy metal moments was seeing these guys at Bloodstock in 2010. Lupus Dei wasn't a song that particularly jumped out at me on the album, but on that day, in the high, almost cathedral-like tent the stage they performed on was in? It grabbed me and didn't let go. In that space, with the organ and the latin lyrics, it really was a heavy metal mass.

Powerwolf mixes Vampiric (Vampires don't Die) and Lycanthic (werewolves or Armenia) themes with Catholic themes, while flipping them upside down (Catholic in the morning, Satanist at night).

Hei man, love you checked out Powerwolf. :) Pls also Check out Nachtblut - "Leierkinder". Great dark metal with medieval influences in this song. A bit to know about Nachtblut: It's a Dark metal band from Osnabrück, Germany, which always says that they don't think within genre, which was extremely underlined by their second to last record "Apostasie" in which they played songs from the genre of german rap to Dark metal, including a song of "Neue deutsche Härte"-genre(the genre of Rammstein), and a ballad. And also the most black metal song ever "Der Tod ist meine Nutte" (Death is my hooker). Their older stuff is pretty much the typical black/dark metal stuff you may hear, except for the lyrics, they only sing in german(which makes some ppl say they sound like Rammstein, even though they sound nothing like Rammstein). The lyrics range from social criticism to religion criticism. Askeroth, leadsinger, once said about Nachtblut that this is a middle-finger project, and if you feel as if the lyrics are getting at you in either way, than you should think about them. They have a song about pedophelia ("Des kleinen Herzens letzter Schlag"), as well as about churches murders of innocent ppl who just believe something different("Blutgerüst"), also one song about a very important question in life("Nie gefragt"). Even though they aren't that well known in germany, they have a large fanbase in Russia and China. To "Leierkinder": It's a song about we ppl being blind to other religious/non-religious believes/ideas. "We're not deaf, just blind" is a line in the verse.^^

If you think this is good I can tell you now it's definitely top 10 from them, and arguably not even top 15. In no particular order: Incense and Iron, Venom of Venus, We Drink Your Blood, Sacred and Wild, Sanctified With Dynamite, We Are The Wild, Nightside of Siberia, Army of the Night, Killers With the Cross, Die Die Crucified, Catholic in the Morning Satanist at Night And that's not an attack on this song, but a testament to how damn good this band is.

Judging by how much Nightwish you did, you seem to like Symphonic Metal :) Dimmu Borgir is one of the most popular symphonic metal bands, in some ways similar to Nightwish, but in many ways different too. In my opinion while I love Powerwolf especially their live shows I personally think the mixing for their Wacken 2019 set was not the greatest. If you wanna keep watching their live videos (which I suggest you do) I think Summer Breeze and even their old Masters of Rock Live shows are way better

Not sure who provided the female vocals but Diane van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio have credit on the album. The music video is worth a look too. The nuns are played by the actresses Francesca Peruzzi, Elisa Sutti, Daniela Caputo, Giulia Colombo, Nikita Pelizon and Sara Federico while the demons are played by Jeez Kult and Hervè De Zulian.
