A reaction to Brothers of Metal?! I've been waiting an ACTUAL year for this moment! I really hope you like them. Almost all of their songs follow 2 types of content, ¹) Nordic Mythology, both common and uncommon ²) standing together as warriors and friends, united by camaraderie and METAL This band reignited my love for looking at different bands, and giving something new a chance to grow

Power Metal doesn’t need to have a fantasy element to be “Power Metal”. I include these guys, along with Sabaton, and DragonForce to be Power Metal.
@chaosofagoose Жыл бұрын
Yeah, for me power metal typically just has a theme and is very fast & melodic. Powerwolf is a nice example BC their name implies Power metal but they don't fit the stereotype. Sabaton doesn't care for labels. Yet, I very much consider them power metal. Amaranth too, they don't focus on fantasy.

My all time favorite song of them so far is "Prophecy of Ragnarök". It is on the heavier side of their songs, but still really catchy. A more fun one is "The mead song". They sure like to have fun making the videos! Great review, like always!

Brothers of Metal is such a great band to watch live, a real party band, gives a lot of them selves and includes the crowd. Funfact: They are practically Sabaton’s “house band “ on SOA ( Sabaton open air festival) as they have played there several times.

I found BoM just a few months back (from the time of this recording) and I was waiting for you to react to one of their songs and Im glad you did. Although I know this one comment may not be enough to get a reaction, their songs Prophecy of Ragnarok and Yggrasil are absolutely fucking incredible. BoM reminds me so much of Sabaton in the sense that you know what you are going to get. You will always get something fun and refreshing but nothing over the top or mindbogglingly good. hallå! from Wisconsin

Glad to see you enjoying then.

Always enjoy my bit of trve power whatever metal from sweden. Interesting with this band is, that they've released their first album 'Prophecies of Ragnarök' by theirown and got such a good feedback on it, that AFM reached out to them, signed them and re-released the album. They defenity do nothing crazy never heard stuff, but their mixture is brilliant. My favourite and introduction is 'Defenders of Walhalla'. As regards more agressive tracks I'd suggest 'Hel' from the recent album Emblas Saga. Ylva Erikson is a wonderful vocalist, ya'all shoud listen to her feature perfomance on Orden Ogans ballad 'Alone in the Dark'. It showcases her vocal abilities in a different way (and Orden Ogan is great to listen too 🤪).

Something from a Sweden's neighbor, do check out Stam1na. They've got awesome songs and music videos. Some are made with a bit of tongue in cheek attitude, some are just compilations of live footage. Their style is kinda hard to put under a label, because there's influenses from so my categories to be found from their songs. I'd like to see your reaction to one of their songs, it doesn't matter what song you pick. Though I'd recommend songs like Lääke, Ateistin kiitos (memento mori), Valtiaan uudet vaateet or Yhdeksän tien päät.

Yes! Yes! You just made my day. BOM is actually playing out in my shop right now, lol. They have a lot of variety on the folk spectrum. Some songs are full on folk, others are mostly metal. All their songs are perfect for sing along and crowd participation. I can't wait until they can come to North America. Ylva doesn't always sing so prominently. They kill off the poor guy at the end in every video. Most if not all of their music videos are comical and intentionally over the top dramatic. I love it. This is one of my favorite songs from them too! Thanks!

In 2019, KZbin recommended me "Prophecy of Ragnarök" and I've became a fan instantly. In the same year, my partner asked me if I'd like to join him to a small festival called Rockharz but i refused. Well... a few days later, BOM were announced for this festival. When my partner came back, he told me, that almost nobody had heard of this band before and the few people (compared to bands like Powerwolf) that were standing in front of the stage at the beginning of their performance were mainly just curious. But their live performance was one of the best at the whole festival... I'm still upset that I refused to join him! So when he asked me if I'd like to join him for the same festival in 2020, I said yes. But it could't take place due to Corona. The same thing happened in 2021. Well, now we do have tickets for 2022 and I still have the hope, that they might play again there!

The other song they have a video for, "Yggdrasil" is both different and very good as well. And my personal favourite with Brothers of Metal is their song "Hel" Also from Emblas Saga. Quick fact about Norse mythos that you might already know. The first two humans that Oden created were Ask and Embla, made out of the fallen tree trunks of an Ash tree (Ask in Swedish) and the trunk of an Elm tree (alm in Swedish) And when we are on the topic of Viking metal. When will we get more Amon Amarath? You said you would listen to more after your reaction to "The Way of the Viking" and I have been waiting ;) Not that I'm complaining since you have introduced me to a bunch of new artist! Would like a reaction to "Raise your Horns" by them as you can see both stage production and instruments in it. Once again, Thanks for a banger of a reaction.

Hah! BoM! Great review and I agree with you, that there is not so much mind blowing stuff in there like in nightwish or other bands and I think this may be their best trick. They do not try to overwhelm your mind with nuances - although they have that too - and their music is mostly like heavy campfire metal. In essence, they are more a storytelling band about to the Viking mythology and put lots of humor in their performances trying to emphasize the saga's epicness with their songs :D. My absolute favorite song by them is Yggdrasil - it always gets me to the bone. If you ever make a review on that, plz include the intro track "Concerning norns" which is a spoken intro to the Yggdrasil song. (Album: prophecy of ragnarök).

I love me some cheesy powermetal! 🤘 Always makes me feel happy, and in these times we really need things that makes us feel happy. Absolutely, all the cheesy power metal! I confess I hadn't gotten to the "search up all their music" stage yet. I'm at the "I've been hearing this on my random stuff streaming music channel and like it" stage so far. I'll have to look up more. I think Prophecy of Ragnarok is the main one that keeps showing up. Some music I like, some music I fall in love at first hearing. This is an "I like". Now I have to find more to solidify it into either "I'll listen when it's on" or "When are they playing in the states? I'm in!"
