It’s not where you go. It’s what you leave behind . . . Chef, writer, adventurer, provocateur: Anthony Bourdain lived his life unabashedly. Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how an anonymous chef became a world-renowned cultural icon. From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), this unflinching look at Bourdain reverberates with his presence, in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him.

I’m 51 . Blue collar. Mr Bourdain changed the way I thought about myself. I looked at him and said if this guy , a cook, an addict, a man that admittedly had huge faults as a person similar to mine can go to these wonderful places and meet and enjoy time spent with people from these places so can I. I guess he inspired me to do things in a way no one else ever did. And when I learned he cashed in his chips I’m not ashamed to say I teared up a bit as if I lost a close friend. And it’s amazing that he had this effect on so many people around the world.

This is insane. Anthony Bourdain is the reason I started travelling. His quote in this trailer about travel was on my college graduation announcements. The song used in this is The Big Ship by Brian Eno - a song I listen to on repeat when I travel and a song I made a video to after traveling around Asia. I write this as I take a day off from hiking the PCT and I can't help but thank him for the inspiration and motivation to follow my dreams of travel

Why does everyone feel so deeply connected to this man? I think it’s bc there isn’t an inauthentic bone in his body, his honesty, vulnerability, always quick to remind people what’s truly important and passionately pursuing the things in life that made him happy. I will never fully understand why I grieve for someone I have never met. I only started watching Anthony's shows this year and was immediately blown away by his personality. As the shows progressed I liked him more and more til I felt like he was a friend. It got too hard to watch recently after learning of his suicide from a few years back, I lost someone dear to me through suicide a couple of years ago and the pain is still very real. I feel like the world needed someone like Bourdain, now he's gone it feels a little colder without his warm presence, big smile and even bigger heart. I don't know why I am writing this but I feel better for doing so. R.I.P Anthony, you're missed more than you could ever imagine.

Watching Anthony Bourdain “Parts Unknown” gave me the courage to go off the beaten path and travel twice across various countries in Asia and beyond, trying unique meals, and meeting interesting people, and viewing incredible landscapes. There are many life lessons dispensed by this man throughout his series of adventures across the world, but there are many more lessons to be had while travelling away from the safe harbour. ‘Nothing feels better than going home. and nothing feels better than leaving home. The end of middle school and till the end of high school saw me reading his books & watching more of his shows. Throughout this whole experience, I was already into cooking & food cause of my parents, but now I was INCREDIBLY into it because of Anthony. By college I was a HUGE fan of his; I had all of his books, watched all of his shows (wrote down my favorite episodes), and was making my own recipes. I saw him on his last tour before he died and let me tell you it was an EXPERIENCE. Anthony Bourdain was like a god to me growing up and I was devastated when I found out he had died.
