Good roadside repair. Field welds with spool guns on dirty material are tough. One thing that's helped a little over the years is running a long stick out. Kinda like running fluxcore, but even longer. Seems counter intuitive, but it has benefited my welds with the spool gun. Good video. Keep it real like you do bud.

I'm all for it when it fits the job, however some things require pretty welds. Prettiness is a good indicator of steady, clean and proper, which is a dead serious deal with anything life supporting, food grade, pharma, pressurized etc.

Nice job, Anthony. I never have gotten very good with a spool gun. The company I worked for in the 80's got the contract to build the aluminum collapsible lower bowl seating for a 14,000 seat hockey arena. I used a spool gun for about two weeks straight and got passable at it but I haven't done it in ages and doubt my welds would be very good at all these days
