Bank Fishing - Roadside at Hopedale & Mississippi River for 10hrs only catches Gaff-topsail Catfish!

waking up at 4:45am, leaving the house at 5:15am, arriving at the first spot at 6:00am to find some live bait, then 6:10am to Hopedale trying to catch more live bait and crabs. I fished at this spot till 10:20 a.m. and drove further down towards the end of Hopedale, then Shell Beach to scout but it was very slow as I asked other anglers fishing in different spots. I did run into Giang, my first subscriber!!! he fought the Vietnam War, thank you for your service, sir! we chatted a bit, and then I decided to head to Wills Point to fish the Mississippi River at Wills Point, I did get two really good hooks in the first 45mins some big fish that snapped my 60lbs, mono leader, other than that was a bunch of Gafftopsail catfish. I ended up with 4 keeper sizes and a channel catfish to feed the family.

Yes, unfortunately, no red or speckle trout. I see a couple fishing down the road caught undersize speckle trout, but you got to use live shrimp. It's all about techniques.

I started fishing last August, so it's been almost a year now. I always go to Lake Pontchartrain because it's the closest body of water to my home, and I remember fishing for a variety of fish last year, but this year almost all the fish I caught were catfish and a few croaker. I don't hate catfish, I'm happy as long as I can catch a fish, but it annoys me to catch the same fish over and over again, and they are slimy and have spikes. Do you have the same problem? *PS I enjoy your content!! Keep it up!!*

What I think is your fishing strategy, it depends on many things, what bait you uses, rig, hook size setup etc, that would attract different fish. They're times I see fishes activities around I fish very active and huge fish feeding on the top water, but I use sing drop bottom with dead shrimp, mullet will not get any bite. It does requires a lot of thinking and changing your strategy to catch different fish could possibly there. That requires different bait, hook, size, bait to land you fish. For trout and red and some other fish requires casting jigs with plastic, spoon, voodoo shrimp, spoon, etc. if it's bass it'll be another different types of fishing strategies. I usually target catfish, I rarely catch red, some time black drum, and high chance hook on alligator gar.

@@lox_-cv4gw I have a dozen of plastics, frogs and stuff for large mouth bass, but I can't seem to catch them, so I'm just staying focused with what I want to catches.
