What a great business concept, I've never seen a traveling mechanic, that's thinking outside the box, good for you. I used to be a mechanic back in the day, in the 70's, cars were a lot simpler to work on then, a tune-up was points, plugs, condenser lol. Now it's more complicated, I give you a lot of credit. @Michael bell it actually is, I went from fixing helicopters to being a collision tech in littler over a year , disassembling and repairing almost anything , suspension, condensers, radiator, AC systems , frames, it’s really just your mechanical aptitude that holds you back

@Michael bell It really all depends on the car. My 2010 Camaro SS, plugs and wires are a total piece of cake, all the room you could ever need. Almost everything is easy on that platform. My old 1995 Trans Am? That car was a nightmare, enough that a lot of used 4th gen Camaro/Firebirds will still have the factory plug for the #8 cylinder still installed. My 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer and 2013 Chevy Cruze are also very easy to work on. A lot of the older cars are easy to work on as well as a lot of the newer stuff. But there are also a ton of nightmare cars from each era. That said, I will work on nearly any modern car over a 1980s - early 90's GM product any day of the week. Vacuum line hell with nearly zero clearance for anything - they just packed things in there so dang tight.

Yea if its a no start they would have to pay to have it towed and then worked on. So even charging them at the same price of a repair shop or just slightly under your still saving them the tow fee. Unless the car insurance they have covers it.

Nice video! I ran a Shop out of my garage on my days off on Nextdoor for 2 years. I had awesome reviews and had no overhead. I only worked on cars 10 years old and newer. It made life so much easier. Everyone tried to convince me to open up a real shop. My workload got so insane. It affected my main mechanic job. When I changed jobs I quit my side shop. I still get calls 2 years later from my customers and friends of customers. I took a picture of my old parts next to the new ones. I took pics of every conversation etc. It saved my ass from 2 bad customers. At 47. I just want to work 40-45 hrs a week and go home lol

3 years late but whenever you put a vehicle on jackstands like that, especially when the stands are fully raised up, always chock the wheels still on the ground so the vehicle can't roll causing the stands to tip over. People have gotten killed because of this oversight. The best thing to do when using jackstands is to go bigger, 6 ton ones would allow a lot of room without having to raise the paws up so high, less susceptible to tipping over.

Never been my own boss like you until later this year cause I just got some money to invest from my dad. We’re gonna be partners even though he doesn’t his money back. I tip my hat to you did this for 2 years out of a 6x8 enclosed trailer , got in a lot of bad situations , cancellations , wasted trips , people not answering the door when it was time to pay, calling police saying I'm trespassing when they go in to get money after I'd finished, going for a call no car but 4 guys trying to steal my truck trailer and tools. I'll still go to customers cars in a emergency but a lot less stress maid a deal with a small towing service $75 tows for service without all the running, fuel, part issues I make twice as much out of a 2 stall garage . keep at it man

Could be a bad ground to the fuel pump as well. You will get bit calling bad fuel pumps like that. Take a test light from positive and hook it to the feed spot on the relay to the fuel pump. If it lights then you know your wiring is in tact feed and ground. If it doesn't then you need to trouble shoot back at the pump and verify ground and power to it. Plus you need to see if the computer is commanding the fuel pump on or not.

I wasn't questioning your method using a test light at all, I actually clicked the like button to this post but pretty sure that's all. A test light is one of the most reliable and cost effective tests to confirm cicuit integrity 'before' firing the parts cannon...lol. I was simply replying to Hank Bridges' post about using much more expensive equipment, as it would be a substantial investment for the tools he suggested and the time it would take to learn some basics, before it would be much good to someone with little experience. Perhaps my post ended up in the wrong place, as I've seen that a few times on YT recently, and also don't see Hank's post here now either👍

Tip of advice. If you are doing work on other peoples vehicles, get insurance to cover you in case of claims. Have work orders for the exact work done. Just so you are covered.

A little trick I use on those troublesome gaskets is a thin layer of Vaseline. Gasoline is petroleum oil vaseline is petroleum jelly. So they don't interfere with each other 😎👍

if u need a easy way to remember if u locked your boxes or not without having to check them before leaving? when the box is unlocked keep the key with you in your pocket or chain or something, and when the box is locked, leave it on top of the box. Works great for me

Alright, new sub here, and I love your channel. Any service where you go to the customer in lieu of them coming to you is solid gold, in my opinion. The idea of a mobile mechanic is smart. It ranks right up there with mobile auto detailers and mobile personal trainers (the trainers who bring their gym/studio in a cargo trailer or box truck). But here's a bit of advice... stop mentioning Auto Zone's name and merch. Don't even show their boxes or house brands on you videos. They don't have to sponsor you, you're advertising for them for free. But keep hustling and building your brand and channel, and soon the sponsors will come. I've seen channels, not auto mechanic channels, but channels nonetheless, with less subs than yours with sponsors. They're coming. I promise. But in the meantime, stop giving the milk away for free. I look forward to your future content.

You should consider investing in a quickjack system. Im sure you can wire it off your truck while the engine is running and run an extension cable if needed. It would provide you much more space under the car along with added safety

Once a vehicle is up and set with supports, I always block a wheel for extra safety. Enjoyed your video and learned a lot listening to you. Your work is super good, and no doubt your customers will stick with you.

I thought about doing a mobile mechanic business myself, but it's been years since I've laid hands on a car for maintenance. I'm super rusty and wouldn't even know where to start. No disrespect, but being a mobile mechanic seems about as bad as I imagined it being. I hate rolling around on the cold, dirty ground working on my own cars at my own home. I can't imagine going to a strange location to work on someone else's hooptie, particularly to apartment properties where people might give you lots of grief for doing work in the parking lot. Feel like this is a job that would be infinitely better with a buddy/partner, but I get that the financials don't work out. Major props to you though, good sir. Subbed. Very interesting stuff.

They make better money than us ase mechanics. And if I did it I'd definitely want an assistant but, that's a slippery slope. They will soon start taking their own jobs.
