Personally I’d never let a customer take a road trip without pulling all 4 tires and checking the inside brake pads, the vast majority of cars do not wear brake pads perfectly even and you can never ok brake pad life by just checking the outside pad, kind of disappointed on that aspect of the inspection. Also an absolute must to lift up the front end and shake down the suspension components, once again the parts may visually look perfect until you shake it down and realize a ball joint or wheel bearing is about to come apart. Not trying to be rude but I would just by no means consider this a proper road trip inspection. Best of luck

@johnaclark13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'd at least mention that the boot is beginning to leak. However, what is the worst that will happen? The grease will leak out and eventually it will get dirty, wear out, and click on tight turns. Other than making a mess I don't really see any safety issue or breakdown happening with that axle. I've seen outer cv joints on Hondas go for years with virtually no boot at all. The only benefit to replacing it ASAP is you could put a boot on it before it destroys the joint and a whole new axle is needed. Since most people just put a whole new axle on anyway, what's the point?

One reason I put vehicles on ramps for oil changes is because I like to prefill oil filters. If you cannot prefill because it’s sideways or other, unhook injectors or fuel pump relay and crank it until it builds oil pressure. My air intake hose had a crack similar to that, I wrapped it in tape and it lasted for years, I FINALLY changed it recently. That usually means they've vacuum lines that are very close to failure from cracking. I'll NEVER understand WHY people don't invest in those little portable air pumps. Especially with what they charge for air. I found a really nice one in the garbage, the plug was broke, an easy fix. I've helped so many people with flat tires, many don't have all the tools usually. Even losing the lock adapter for locking lugs, many with no air in spare too, that's where that air pump helps. It's good to carry one AND tire plugs if you should be so lucky to get 2 flats, you might be able to plug the hole to get you to a place that can properly PATCH your flats.

When I looked a week later after coming out of camp,I saw the air tube was cracked wide open sucking in raw air past the MAF sensor on the air box. 20$ part from Honda and it was fixed a week later.
