Hey guys! Today on the show we've got two modified and very unique Mazdaspeeds! As we've recently found out, Mazda has no intention of creating a new Mazdaspeed product out of the new (and wonderful) Mazda 3. Because of this, we find ourselves looking back in time to scratch the enthusiast itch inside of us. Enter the 1st and 2nd generation Mazdaspeed 3. These cars have been modified in two different directions, although still both serving their initial goal of being fun and practical daily boosted hatchback. Enjoy!

Cool vid. I'd have used the word "comparison" instead of "battle," though. I have a 390whp Gen 2 and love it. It's been retired to weekend/track duty, but I DD'ed it reliably for years. I brought my daughter home from the hospital in it, haha. Yeah, they're great cars and often very underestimated, particularly when people think they're just a 3. I've stunned so many "fast" cars after pulling them and letting them catch back up. The looks on their faces and car-enthusiast thumbs-ups afterwards have been priceless.

Nice video and nice review i agree on everything you said. I own a 2008.5 speed3 and a mazda 3 2007 both have some mods, i can Simply describe the difference between a normal 3 and speed by saying that when i hop and drive my speed3 i gotta be so much more focused and its like a good stress and feeling at the same thing. When i enter in my mazda 3 its like a normal car i dont feel like its that special and that i need to be focusing on my Driving. I love my speed3 and Everyday with it is totally different and make me smile, if you love mastering a car platform and Learning how to drive it better each day you will love the speed .

As a Mazda/VW tech of 23 years and owner of both vehicles, the Jetta literally fell apart with the Mechatronics unit in the DSG failing at 165,000klms. In comparison, the MPS, which was of identical age, is currently at 260,000klms and the only thing I replaced was the gearbox as second gear synchro simply wore out at 130,000klms through normal wear and tear - The engine has never been apart. The VAG product is garbage in comparison.

For some reason, that's all that came to mind. Then again, compared to how childish the gen1 is, the gen2 isn't much of an improvement~

i love both gens ass but dislike the gen2 front. i own a genjuan cuz of that. heel to toe was tricky since i had my 92 civic hatch since i first start driving standard and learning heel toe rev matching on it was super easy. happy i learned how to drive standard and learned everything on the civic before i upgraded 😁 i needed more torque and i love hatchbacks so having more power was a bonus too even though my hatch was pushing like 150 it was fast enough for me but not uphill. miss that gas saver though.. i travel 50-60miles a day to work and back home and i deal with crazy traffic and a long ass some what steep hill climb so speeding up when traffic gets going was a pain. now 👌

My gen1 speed just hit 170k... I've been wanting to do bolt ons and AP so bad but worried about it being old and then just wasting money.. have coilovers and wheels though.

Jordan Soliman I’m about to buy my buddies 07 speed 3 with Cobb stage 2 it’s got 230k on it runs mint tho I don’t think you should worry if the engine runs well and you take care of it you can tune it

@@daevid21 Thanks! Just got the timing chain replaced and it runs pretty good now. I'm tempted to get Fuel Pump internals, SF Intake and an AP to start.

My first car was a Mazdaspeed6, Definitely a quick car and super enjoyable to drive. But now that a look back probably not the best idea for a first car 😂 Ended up spending way too much money to fix it during highschool, and left me with no car for 3 months lol. None the less, super fun car for the price they are!

Hey mind if I ask you a quick question? How would you describe the reliability? I'm in college and looking for a car and the speed6 is on the top of my list. I have about 10K to spend give or take

@@adamgraham6265 my MS6 has 201K, with an old car expect to spend $ on the wear & tear components but as long as the engine is solid it's all about how well you then treat her, main thing to confirm is compression if you're looking into buying one, and ask if the vvt has been done.

I had a 2006 WWP Speed6 on BC Racing coils, CPE single exhaust and some other goodies. The car is a bit heavy, but still was a thrill to drive. If you take care of it you will be fine. It’s the “grown up” version of the 6. Leather interior heated seats and a loud ass HKS ssq BOV. Turns heads and they don’t know where to look. It’s very under the radar. Get one.

Funny my name is Daniel and No Lie. I'm buying a 2012 MSP 3 tomorrow from a 54 yr old guy who's modified it to 365 whp and 380ftlbs on E30 mix. All Cobb or Corksport stuff and Big front mount intercooler. I recently had a kid so my modded EK coupe had to go.
