Watch how I load my road train, leave Perth and drive 4000km across the Nullarbor, where I sleep and what I eat, then unload at the farms of Queensland.

@@RoadTrainAdventures Yes that is understandable but where I work (in the mines) it is because they want to hide their own incompetence and poor behaviour. To be honest. I don't think these companies are so worried about doing something wrong but more that something might happen, by mistake, and then they get in trouble. If course there are others that just don't want anyone to see their operation. Like they're the only ones doing something one way that others will copy,and therefore be a disadvantage if others find out.

@@RoadTrainAdventures The first time I did it was in 1983, in a 1970 Datsun 1200, with my family of four in it! Perth/Melb/Canberra/Perth. Every time a road train was approaching from the opposite direction, my old man would shout "Brace yourselves!' haha. We had an AM radio, a dodgy battery tape player and an old foam esky. No air con or phones or anything... It was pretty wild! Anyway, take care out there. Cheers

Hi there! I’m just very new to your channel and I like your production values and the quality of camera work. Speaking from the point of view of a retired documentary maker and Media Studies teacher, your shots can be truly beautiful and highly informative of the Australian countryside and trucking business. May I please offer this piece of encouragement for future videos- as your camera work is of a high standard, your takes can be run for at least twice as long as you are having in this video. These images of Australia are utterly beautiful and deeply inspiring, romantic even at times. Please, don’t be afraid to edit in much longer shots as they are beautiful to watch. Also, your comments about your loading and unloading would be highly insightful for those of us that love travelling but don’t get enough of an opportunity to hit the road. Cheers from a country boy living in the city. (Melbourne!)
@RoadTrainAdventures
@RoadTrainAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephen. I spent the weekend with my family in Melbourne. I keep each shot quick or less than 5 seconds as most people will leave watching the video unless it's punchy. I hear what you're saying and whilst you'd like longer shots of the scenery, other people don't care and will then move on to another video.

Thank you for a wonderful video. I've been to Australia 🇦🇺 twice, goldcoast area. If I'd of known what Australia 🇦🇺 was when I was 20 ish I'd would have packed my bag. Not for the adventure but the way of life. You were talking about the log book 📖 🙄 we here in Ireland 🇮🇪 and Europe have a tachograph card . If you were stuck in traffic, you can watch that clock run out even a few miles to your stop. No grey area so don't complain and DON'T let the tachograph in or your days on the road will increase. I've subscribed so I'll let you lead us across your wonderful country and I'll pray I'll get back there again. Keep the rubber side down 👍
@RoadTrainAdventures
@RoadTrainAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks Eugene. Yeah I've heard about the tachograph card. Sounds like a bad deal. They are bringing in electronic wheel diaries here. They haven't been taken up by many companies yet but the government is pushing for it. More dodgy systems that fails us drivers.
@eugeneclarke5572
@eugeneclarke5572 Жыл бұрын
@@RoadTrainAdventures put your card in, your clocked in . 4 and a half hour driving you must take a 45 minute break. Another 4 and a half hour driving , finished but you can add another hour driving after another 45 minute break but this extra hour must be given back. Now if you are in traffic or multi drop ,"working time directive " comes into play. We have to have the 45 minute break taken before your 6 hours of work even though you might have driven only 2 , 3, or 4 hours. It depends which one comes into play. You plan your day aiming for some where to pull in. With our working hours 2 to 3 day trip will be extended to 4 at least . Who is going to pay for the extra day. I've looked at 2 more videos. Like the fact you don't have Aires and graces like some other videos or the over acting. Keep it safe out there. There's a truck driver heading out to Australia 🇦🇺 in the new year. He has written a few songs. Truckin, farming.... He is a character knows how to get the crowd going. Look him up . Marty Mone . Songs; slip the clutch. Or hit the diff. Look him up on utube Keep it safe. Catch you on the flip

Really interesting and informative and beaut filming especially with the drone shots, I am not a truckie but I love trucks especially the classics and Australia’s transportation history including trains, autos & bikes, haven’t crossed the Nullarbor for a few decades now but did do from Melbourne to Perth many, many times from the Early 1970’s starting when there was the unmade section between Eucla and Ceduna before they sealed and saw a lot of damage to vehicles from holed petrol tank to front end collapse on this section and also to a broken timing chain on my XP Falcon Hardtop between Norseman & Balladonia mid winter and getting towed back to Norseman By a young bloke in a 48 Buick straight eight! Those were the days if anything is going to go wrong at shitters ditch Murphy’s law takes over and it always happened on the Nullarbor! I also did a few round trips on my motorcycle back in 74 on my Kawasaki Mach 3 which went surprisingly trouble free for a hot rod 2 stroke triple but in those days you didn’t really have to worry about cops and radar just Kangaroos and other critters so a high speed was the order of the day and to stop those plugs oiling up on the stroker! Mixed with a bit of youthful risk taking, I’d invariably always get pulled over coming in to Perth for some reason but never on the highway, memories!

It just weirds me out thinking about people living in the middle of Australia, never seeing snow, mountains, oceans. Makes me realise I'm very lucky to live where I do.
@RoadTrainAdventures

I guess these people live there out of choice. Just like people live in the city with the noise and pollution.
@Alastair_

@@RoadTrainAdventures True, I don't understand those people much either. I luckily live close enough to cities to get access to the shops and stuff but also close enough to nature that I get clear skies and empty roads when I go out for a drive. I suppose we all make do with what we have.

Wow... that's amazing! I found your channel tonight and I really enjoyed this video. It's fascinating watching what you do and the distances you cover are mind blowing. Your channel shows it how it is and doesn't over dramatise everything like say 'Outback Truckers' would do. This is why I watch KZbin and not TV. Thanks for making the effort to make your videos and 'Hi' from the UK.

What a lovely video. Really enjoyed that. Subscribed! Liked seeing the old machinery on the farms. Had a look on why there isn’t a trans-Australian rail infrastructure. There seems to be different gauges and remote farms that would need trucks anyways. Will watch more. Keep on trucking!
