I'm here after watching Wes Anderson short films for Netflix and I'm impressed with the beautiful work created by Wes to pay homage for this incredible writer. I have Dahl's book of short stories Kiss, Kiss and I love his unique style of writing.

This was so much fun to see! Strange he had his hip bone and spine on his desk, "just for fun." A true genius.

"Some people when they have taken too much and been driven beyond the point of endurance simply crumble and collapse and give up. Others, however, though they are not many who will for some reason always be unconquerable. You meet them in time of war and peace. They have an indomitable spirit and nothing, neither pain nor torture nor threat of death, will cause them to give up. Little Peter Watson was one of these."

In some way, The BFG character is based on Dahl himself's appearance when he wrote it. Bald on top with grey hair and he was very tall (6 foot 6) and slim.

Whenever I see Roald Dahl's name I start scratching my head about a book I think he wrote but am not sure. I had the paperback over 40 years ago, and thought it was a hoot and passed it around to a few people, but can only sort of remember the title and it was about a guy with a string of bad luck. The thing I remember exactly was the cover, which was of a man flushing his head down a toilet. That's why I picked it up to read in the first place! I know book covers change over time like Kiss Kiss had a bunch of different covers. Does this book cover ring a bell with anyone or have I been mistaken all these years?
