Seems like a theme to many of Dahl’s stories, how dubious operators cheat themselves by being a bit too greedy.

He reminds me of a friend of mine who travels the world throwing himself into every situation and always landing on his feet to the benefit of everyone around him. I'm the opposite type, a mole who is loath to leave my comfortable borough. Your reading of Dahl brings him to life for me.

I think Lewis does very well, and he has given us many stories for nothing. So by all means say 'there is a different reading', but do your best not to be insulting
