Man, thanks for the video, you just talked me out of getting a ROAM case. The issues that you are having with that case, especially for the super high cost, is ridiculous! I think I'd be better off making a case to my own specs.

**Update #2** check out my update video of their new version! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5jTfJVubsZlitE **Update #1** After making this video, I did some more digging on the interwebs and found that the deformity is a very common issue on the earlier production model due to how the struts are mounted. There's a revised version that ROAM now sell with the struts mounted in a reversed fashion which may fix the lid from shifting back but not sure if that'll solve the problem with the corners warping from the heat. I've reached out to ROAM to start a Warranty Claim, so I'll update everyone on the progress. Thanks for watching!

I am noticing the same issue on my 83s and will be starting a warranty claim as well. the new V3 version hinge looks much better but it'll still be interesting to see how it fixes the lid shift.

I second this. My roam case is exactly the same and for the price I definitely expected more. I’ll more than likely go pelican next time.

i have 2 95L cases and mine hasn't done that. Im up in Minnesota. I don't keep my cases on my tacoma full-time ether. I only put them on if I'm going to trails or road tripping. I don't have the lid organizer but i do have the molle panel on one of them. With all the stuff i put in both 95L cases, i wouldn't have room for the organizer anyways. I use 1 case for recovery gear like yankum ropes, shovels, etc and the other for tools and phumatics for air up or down. Mine are stored on a 4x8 ft overhead rack in the garage for winter since i don't really go to trails so i have minor rust on my cases just from driving in rain during the other seasons from 2023. I bought them in December of 2022. My struts on both are a different setup than yours. So because i don't have them on my vehicle all the time, the struts are still good on mine. Even with 2 95L cases, I'm still thinking about getting the 66L box for storing camping gear that would go with my RTT, body armor 4x4 skyridge pike 2 person tent. Yes i did cheap out on the RTT but that's because i didn't want a high end tent and I'm fine with an budget friendly tent.

Dang! The deformation alone sucks, but the failing struts is the cherry on the cake.

I believe they updated their entire inventory with new hardware. So far, the updates are holding great for me.

It's just the old struts they used. Just contact Roam and they'll send you the new struts. No biggie, Love my Roam case!

A good company should replace and make future iterations better. Still a bada$$ case. I just don’t think it’s intended to be left on the vehicle forever. I take mine off knowing it will eventually break down.

I definitely like what you've done with your FJ. There are some things that Roam makes that are good. This case is not one of those things. The chemical composition of the polymer used is not right. Eventually, that case will crack. The design of that case for its intended application is not even close to being appropriate, let alone effective. The choice of materials is inappropriate and not up to the task. There are other manufacturers out there that make far better cases for less money.
