Not sure if I mentioned it on your last video but would love a full price breakdown on the entire motor and swap. Including all bling parts, aircon hoses, adapter kits and misc parts you’ve used. Would be super handy to refer to for anyone doing the swap👌🏻

Just a great creation Tom, the Patrol is going to be a very special vehicle when you're done. Make sure you get an immobiliser & tracker at the least, the vehicle is going to be a "one of a kind". 👍💪🙏✌️

Keep an eye on that power steering hose at the motor end. Mine cracked within 1000km at the base of the thin pipe, although it was setup slightly different I can see the same thing happening. These motors move alot and those rubber power steering hoses are pretty stiff. I removed the 'banjo' style fitting at the pump and had a fitting welded to it.
@toddmillar40412 жыл бұрын
Two things firstly this bit I actually know as a machinist, drilling and tapping into the block is not as simple as putting grease on the end of your cutting tools. First preference is to pressurise your block so when you break through it blows the swarf out of the hole, if this is not practical then use a magnet after cutting to capture what the grease missed, (and there will be some missed). The second I'm going off memory, I believe when you first announced that the 4jj1 was going in you linked a video from the supplier, I watched it and if I remember correctly they dry fitted the motor and levelled it out and then tacked the engine mounts removed the motor partially and fully welded the mounts where the motor would sit level. Not trying to have a crack at you cos I like your content but people will use this as a how to video and I wouldn't want them to stuff up.

Hes aren’t weld in mounts so you may need shims

Great content mate, I love to see all the little bits n pieces that are involved along the way that you go into detail about! Just a quick tip for you, where your going to zip tie that power steering hose onto, I did the same on one of my engine conversion builds and eventually the zip ties break from the hyd line "pulsing" over time and the it will move and wear, your better off mounting the line with P clamps to suit the hose size.

That engine is a very good engine but before you decided going for that engine swap, did you consider the BMW M57 engine? Those BMW engines are superb and in Europe that’s the swap that people are doing into Patrol and many others 4X4’s. 💪 Keep up the good work 👌

I like the common rail cowboys and Aussie 4J adapters company. But where else could I buy a complete 4JJ1 with all of the accesories included to ship overseas? What manual transmissions can take the new torque output? Does anyone make forged rods and cranks for these engines if I want to turn up the wick and go past 500 hp? What about stand alone computer fuel management systems for these engines?

Injector seats are very important because they set the injector depth which is very important and has to be done with the cylinder head off so you can check the depth ie injector sticking out off the head which in turn puts the diesel spray pattern in the right place in the piston combustion chamber if it’s not right you could melt a piston or crack a piston definitely not a DIY job I’d strongly suggest you leave it to Diesel qualified people this is not a job to do at home if the seat is damaged I hope this works cheers
@RoamLyfe2 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree!! The machine shop measured it and cut it down 8thou the tolerance is 30! So still we’ll within spec!! Won’t be doing that again in a pinch 😅

Hey mate great build series so far and a awesome job done . Was just wondering about the engine mount problem of having to be shimmed . Is this a manufacturer problem with the mount or every patrol may have slightly different rails ? Is dca supplying the shimms? Keen on this build to replace my zd30 slug . Keep up the great work mate 👍

Recall the drama of A/C line, appears you are running rubber lines in place of the hideous aluminium contortion that was there. You were so pissed 😡 with yourself at the time, now it seems so insignificant 😂. You are making this look so frigan easy, I got so stressed replacing the head on a 4JX1 and a Suzuki Sierra. There's one thing that concerned me, it was your choice of tool to tighten down rocker cover. My 4JX1 rocker cover threads into the aluminium gear carrier were all stripped out from dealership doing what I guess your doing, rattle ratchet. Please utilise basic hand tool or suffer the consequence of stripped threads, leaking rocker cover gasket. Mind you, with your black paint job, it won't be that obvious. 🤣 Carry on making it look so easy. Truly hanging out to see the results of the wholesale automatics upgrade to you RE4. Shame you couldn't retain Asin 6 speed, I'd love the couple of extra cogs myself.
