After getting my new Jimny, I just wanted to travel and use it as much as possible! But I made one mistake, I didn't properly protect the inside my vehicle and it is now covered in scratches and marks all over the interior from daily use and overlanding. So Takla wanted to come to the rescue and make sure I look after my Jimny for the years to come, their Signature range of Cantech seat covers would ensure that they both look good and work incredibly well!
If you want to find out more about these seat covers you can head over to takla.co.za and / takla_products

Hi Adrian, I recently added the Suzuki OEM rubber overmat for the rear of the Jimny, It's a great piece of kit and offers loads of protection when you are hauling kit in and out.

And you don’t even have to get the ones with the diamond stitching; also if you decide to go with Takla you can ask for ROAM embroidery if you want 👌🏻

I really liked the video, the backs of the seat, that plastic backing, really should have been titanium alloy... Like $300 extra in cost I'm guessing based on titanium backpacking equipment price... I have to say I really liked the seat covers that you bought, I would prefer a thicker rubber/plastic material for the foot liners... Maybe something with waterhog mat styleing and function. I tend to agree it was a mistake you absolutely should have done that first. You also need a decent yet simple bull bar, powder coated steel. really glad to see though that you're doing this to the SUV, I enjoy watching these videos. You seam like a a guy that I don't know it's just a guy. Kind of like you're watching your buddy tell you about his 4x4. I guess it's just because you're a decent guy, who is just honestly enjoying what he's doing. Thanks

Hey bud, glad to see your channel growing. Ball park what did this cost? I'm about to place an order for a Jimny ( still trying to decide on color 😁) I looked at another brand, and just for the seatcovers it was like R5k..

Yes good review... i am a bir ignorant with cars but i think made the best choice to get the Suzuki Jimny in January 2019. This great little car has to go for its first sevice and i have no idea what should be done etc? Can anyone enlighten me please? qil they do an oil change? what else? how long will it take? can in wait for them to finish? so many questions!!
@RoamOverlanding
@RoamOverlanding 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Anna; the best bet is to give them a call. But I think the first service they change the oils and just check the car over. Usually they have a shuttle service to take you to work if you need. What area do you stay in?

Won’t these stop the airbags in the seat deploying in an accident?

We don’t have airbags in our version of the Jimny seats but I’m pretty sure they make airbag safe seat covers; they will have to answer that one for you 👍🏻

Hi Adrian, thanks for this review. I was wondering if you ever tried to measure weight of your fully loaded Jimny. Mine is ordered and on the way and I got lot of inspiration from your "expedition" mods. Only thing I am struggling with, is the Gross Weight (1435kg) which leaves only 325kg for fuel+passengers+cargo. Even with only two passengers (2*75kg), fridge (40kg), water (45kg), roof-rack (30kg), tent (70kg) and awning (20kg), I am instantly at 355kg. I haven't even count in fuel, clothes, possible bullbar etc.. I don't have balls to drive overweight vehicle because that makes it not roadworthy here in Aussie. How did you approach this constraint?
@justinhong9676
@justinhong9676 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Anybody with half a brain can see that roof rack with the tent doesn’t suit or fit that vehicle at all. It might look ok but safety wise it’s ridiculous. I’ve seen guys with a LR Defender, add additional mounts to support a rack which extends over the windshield. This guy just keeps adding and adding as if it’s a expedition vehicle which it sure as hell aint.
@vecernik87
@vecernik87 4 жыл бұрын
@@justinhong9676 I wouldn't be so harsh and rude. Adrian has upgraded his suspension and he clearly said in one of previous videos that it improved handling a lot (stability etc). I don't think that rooftop tent itself is a trouble. Jimny is certainly not ideal expedition vehicle but it should be able to handle this stuff. Especially given the fact official Suzuki accessories include bike carrier, which will put the mass way way higher than rooftop tent. (dynamic loads in curves will be enormous) My intention was really just ask, how did he load all that extra stuff without getting over the maximum allowed weight (gross weight) of the Jimny.
@RoamOverlanding
@RoamOverlanding 4 жыл бұрын
This is a very valid point mate; and at the end of the day I live in a different place in the world; in Africa we see trailers loaded up to twice the height of the vehicle we see roofrack on loaded minibuses with 14people people inside loaded to the same height as the vehicle, we have utes loaded with cement and bricks to the point where the tow hook is scratching the tar; so it’s just not that outrageous if I load up the vehicle, as long as it looks like it’s sitting well on the suspension and it doesn’t look overly loaded. There are plenty of expedition vehicles in Southern Africa, so it’s a Normal occurrence to see vehicles with roof tents and jerry cans on their roof. And the reality is that most overland vehicles this side of the world are over their gvm’s at some point in a journey. At the end of the day I try my best to choose products that are light and high quality, my bumpers for example weigh 60kg all around, I’m sure the front ARB is around 40 on its own. (If you have been watching Instagram, you’ll know the RTT has changed recently, from the 75kg Blade to the new 45kg Jazz flip flop tent, just to reduce weight and give more flexibility on the roofrack. So it’s also a learning experience where I get to show people all the different setups and then they take inspiration from that and do their own thing at the end of the day! Sorry for the long read 😂
