Can’t deny the original is a way better story line yet the random of mick is the only thing believable in this. Being introduced to rollerball by this movie then learning there is an original different

I’ll take the original 1975 version over the 2002 remake any day. 🪦 James Caan you were a legend.

Rory you are too funny mate! Great review! I remember when the remake was released. As a lifelong fan of the original, you can just imagine the pain, suffering and anger I had to endure when viewing it for the first time. At least I was laughing my arse off at it by the end haha

Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed it. It's my favourite one to date. Very proud of the Fun House segment lol

We haven't seen the original, but we have seen the 2002 remake. After watching that, I was positive that the original was going to be way better. I mean, how could it not. Glad to see I was right lol. You're bang on about the remake being a 'So Bad It's Good'. It's not a great SBIG but it wasn't painful to sit through.

This is where some things should NEVER be remade. The recent Rollerball was the PRIME example. The recent one made the Rollerball rules confusing and with little to no plot. The original one, brought a main point. The importance of individualism.

I was enjoying this until 11:00 - was wondering where you were getting this information from and found that you basically repeated it verbatim from Wikipedia, which is plagiarism. Also that part of the wiki has no evidence / references. I saw McTiernan at a Die Hard Q&A a few months ago, and he's a super intelligent guy with really interesting perspectives on cinematic violence and social commentary - so I'm pretty sure thats what attracted him to the original script. Did you not make the connection between him spying on the producer and the distastrous reshoots and rebranding of the film?? Do you have zero understanding of how studio filmmaking works?

How about you do your research before you throw stones. Here's a Guardian article in 2013 about his wiretapping leading to his prison time; www.theguardian.com/film/2013/jun/04/hollywood-director-john-mctiernan-prison It's not just a Wikipedia page thing. There are credible sources for it.

I feel like I'm one of the only people who actually likes the 2002 movie LMAO

The 2002 remake was one of the worst movies i have ever seen! So cheaply made, and i think the scene that was obviously filmed using night-vision gear was the worst decisions ever. If this movie was shown on an trans-Atlantic flight, people would still walk out on it.
