You could probably argue the value in the wheel offsets being different is beneficial in the sense that the front being narrower helps with turning radius and scrub while the extended rear helps with stability. Seeing a common trend in many of the builds lately of low stance and 50- tires. Seems to be an effective setup in general.
@24Yepp2 ай бұрын
@@TrailBound51 Yeah I quickly realized its not all about the weight too. Some of the best we've had are lighter, small tires & low.
@TrailBound512 ай бұрын
@@24Yepp It’s about just enough weight in all the right spots. The one thing that drives me crazy about the aftermarket is the brass overload…brass anything above the axles just doesn’t make sense.

I thought for a minute that the painted black line on top of the truck was his chassis design. That would have been awesome. Another good video.

I am running a homebrewed link setup on one rig with some high clearance lower links flipped like that for more clearance. My setup works for my build for sure but I can see it not working for others. I liked this one a lot. It hit some decent climbs in the video for sure, and I was impressed with the sidehill on foams.

I’ve used that reverse HC link for the front uppers like that on a few builds. It’s to clear the rear of the servo case when you get your caster leaned back. -Fluffer Nutters!! 😅
@24Yepp2 ай бұрын
Interesting, still functions as normal?
@bcochener2 ай бұрын
@@24Yepp as long as the clearances all work. I’ve had to use them on the rear steering on 6x6s like that. It still allows for massive dropout/caster lean without any binding of the links/servo case. God, I love setting up suspension/chassis. Maybe even more than doing all the body work… 😂

Very cool to see something build a bit different that performs pretty good. Kinda tempted to have a bash at scratch building a new 24th scale crawler chassis myself after I finish my current build, a custom scratch built chassis for 1/12 scale LWB XL Ford Transit van, for scale trail running, not a crawler but seeing Your videos makes me want to build another 24th scale crawler. Keep up the good work. All the best from another RC nut in Scotland.

Very unique setup and paint job. I've used similar curved links on the front uppers. It's on a comp style build to clear the forward facing motor and the servo case due to extreme caster angle. I haven't tried mounting links outside the rails yet. I'm currently mocking up trailing arms on a build to keep in line with the chassis. As opposed to the typical angled-in lowers setup. If it works, it works.
@cg66842 ай бұрын
Very interesting, I like it. I wonder if the front upper links would be just as effective if they were just straight 🤔
@sidboothe2 ай бұрын
I tried and it comes down to two things. First it allows you to just use the links that come with C10 and deadbolt so no extra purchases, as well as a straight link wouldn’t clear the motor at that skid angle with it mounted forward.
@cg66842 ай бұрын
@@sidboothe oh right, good point. I guess the bend down is there to clear the motor. Smart

Everything under that body is pretty awesome. Love the unique use of links. I run high clearance front links upside down on my Ripper bcuz trx4m drive shaft angles are not good. Gives the shaft more protection and I don't lose any clearance.

I like to use high clearance links for the uppers and in various positions to make it all work. What ever works. Performs well. Nice and lightweight. I'm not into those tires. I'm sure they perform great, if they were a bit bigger I'd buy some. I know, it's the performance that counts, they just look like the tires that one would see on a dropped Ford Explorer in the ghetto. Sorry, i know you love them. Lol
