@@rmonson5002 You are very welcome and thank you!! I have the Ẹkáàbọ̀ Albany Sofa which is enough for me as one person. I got the blue and orange print and I found it because I was looking for a sofa with a printed fabric, because I just bought a small house built in the 70s and it has wood panelling. I know not everyone likes panelling but there is no escaping the fact that this is a 70s house and so I wanted something that would look good with that style while not feeling like a vintage couch. The Ẹkáàbọ̀ Albany is absolutely everything I wanted - it lights up the living area and makes kind of a tricky style really work.

I love the last home you mention with that coal black wall. I would paint it a cream or light gray and do wood floors in there if removing the stonework is not an option. There are so many options for decorating that wall after it is painted a lighter shade, including a fireplace instead of the old stove.

That charcoal wall could be sooo interesting -- home buyers these days pay more for that sort of midcentury modern feature, however this one can easily be painted to soften the effect. I would make the TV the centrepiece on this wall, as the rocks would be an awesome feature backdrop for the TV (wall-mounted). The white buffets Kate has already are just perfect as the starting point for decor for this room. So... I suggest the TV goes over a totally modernist built-in fireplace in white or a lighter natural colour with a glass front, (heat would not affect the TV if it's a proper fireplace)flanked by white console media units that go with the style of the buffet units will transform this wall. The brown speakers could stay, but if the wall stays dark, no dark brown or dark furniture on this side of the room. Lamps on the entertainment units will definitely show off the wall texture to fabulous effect. A midcentury coffee table would link the 2 opposite sides of the room together (rock wall to sofa opposite) and to the existing buffet units

Love that last room. I'd definitely want to see what's under that carpet because that would be the first thing I got rid off. Then that wall either removed or painted. I would keep the furniture but rearrange it. I wouldn't remove that small wall because then it would open up the entryway where it looks like the front door is. Congratulations Stephanie!!
@ryannatividad3137 Жыл бұрын
I know it's an old video, but just seeing this now. I would maybe leave the stone wall and just paint it and accessorize, and spend the budget on semi-open wood slat to add privacy between the front door/foyer and living room where the wall is now. The stone and wood would look great in the space. And the slat would give some privacy while still opening it up.

I think Traceys biggest problem is lack of pattern- I am working on my living room and when you have a lot of solid color pieces it becomes a bunch of items that don’t mesh. I threw in a pattern pillow, just one and it took up the level of the room. Pattern, texture and accent colors helps a lot

The last picture of the 1960’s home, I had one and my husband and I did a complete renovation to bring it to a more contemporary mid century design… We also had a fireplace that closely resembled that one.. I hated it! So what I ended up doing was painting it a cream-white and it actually looked amazing! I also got rid of the divider as it seems it was popular in those homes. It was a great decision because it opened up the entire space and took away from the fireplace.

Hi i would suggest Kate might want to paint the rock wall white as the walls, which will transform the rock to just another wall and not a focal point. Any other color still be an accent. Also i would move the book cases and place tv on that wall eye level, maybe on top of both cabinets, sofa facing tv, and u will need curtains, love your marble side stand, i will replace side chairs to white boucle and wood, consider u only have one wall to work with, so maybe close the entry wall and place a mirror across from front door. also gather all your art on one wall. could not help myself to add my two bits, i love mid century, Liliana
