Another fun thing, is how we can begin to unravel interpretations that were probably imposed on believers by The Roman Catholic Church of ancient times. Don't doubt I love the RCC people but love questioning where limiting interpretations of the Bible came from? The Church of Rome, was the ONLY Christian church for over 1000 years so it's most likely they created most Christian Doctrines of today. Martin Luther helped to throw off a few, and that's awesome, but there are many Protestant doctrines that were simply Catholic doctrines, and the Protestants adopted them. For example...... what happened between Genesis Chapter One and Genesis Chapter Two? Those are two of the most opposite accounts of Creation and of who we actually are... Genesis One says we are purely spiritual because we are "made in God's own image and likeness" and we're VERY GOOD, with power over the "things of the earth", (which many interpret as matter and the laws of matter.) Genesis Two seems to take great pains to tell us we are from dirt and will return to dirt. Because of this couple Adam and his girl, we are ALL bound to suffer a very hard life because we sinned and will always be sinners because of something two people did a zillion years ago. We've somehow adopted the most material version of who we are.. that being Genesis Two and Three. Was that a good move??? At the time maybe... but think about how depressing it is to say, 1) We, all of us, are born sinners because Eve listened to a talking snake and ate an apple. Some go so far as to say we have a "depraved nature". They will be the last ones to say, we are spiritual in our true nature, and the last to say "Wow, Genesis One is true!" Science has a hard science Quantum Physics, to say that we are not really material however it appears that we are. But being married to an ancient idea that we have a "sin nature" for some reason, we don't accept Genesis One, but we do accept a material and quite limiting interpretation of who we are and what we can do as off spring of God. So let the questions fly and smile at those who frown that you would dare to ask a question outside of the viewpoint created in 325...and let God lead us, save us if you will, from our limited ideas about who we are as the beloved SPIRITUAL IDEAS OF GOD WHO IS LOVE.
