The are trying with every avenue but currently the League are stopping them although recently they have embarrassed the League by letting everyone know how unwilling the 5th tear football leave are to embrace broadcasting, at least to international viewers but they are getting closer to being able to broadcaste but still some way to go.

@@hometechUK I read somewhere else that it isn't that the League is unwilling, it's that they're locked into a crap deal that doesn't allow for streaming. They took the deal because they were too short-sighted at the time to see how big streaming was going to become. However, the deal will end in a year or two.

Nah it's cool. He just doesn't understand our culture. I did cringe a little when he said that you can't use words like ethos around people who have been speaking English since the 13th century but all he meant is that he doesn't see the Welsh as poncey.

@@n.p.d I'm not familiar with Dan but the "I'm looking at your face" bit was stupid and lame while the ethos bit was just condescending and trite, rather than an insult to Wales and Wrexham it was an insult to working class families implying that they must be stupid and don't know anything like the big sports interviewer. Combine that with his general aura of disdain for whoever he is talking to and it all adds up to him being a real jerk.

You have to meet people where they are. For Americans, professional sports teams are located in major metropolitan areas. Usually, there's something else to do in town besides that one team. Frequently multiple other teams in different leagues. Here in Tampa we have ~3 million people in the metro Tampa/St. Pete area. We have an NFL team, an NHL team, a MLB team, and a 2nd tier soccer team. (Go Rowdies!). Plus a theme park, restaurants from all over the world, etc. Now let's compare that to Gainsville, Florida. They have the University of Florida Gators college team. And really nothing else. When the Gators lose, the whole town gets sad. You can feel a wave of depression for a week or more if they don't win their next game. Probably the closest thing Americans have to the UK small town Football experience is American college athletics.

I think you may have taken it on the "level of play" front. The way you think that statement sounds is the way your own statement sounds to someone in a college town. Its a very correct comparison. People who live in college towns have been following that team/school for decades. Many to more than 100 years. Think of Notre Dame, UF, Ohio State, LSU, etc. etc. Those schools mean more to the town than any pro team. For example, the people of Columbus Ohio live and breath Ohio State. The pro football teams that are nearby are a distant second as far as importance.
