Well said. The fact big pop up got in with a positive but Barry didn’t just shows the voting is just a popularity contest. The voting is a joke. ORTIZ wasn’t even half the total player Barry was in his career. Ortiz couldn’t put down the burger long enough to play a position after a certain age. Barry played the OF. Barry won gold gloves and stole 500 bases. Everyone says “numbers prove he juiced” ...... so Ortiz hitting almost 40 HR(38-39 I believe)at age 39 isn’t a number that is damning ? Lol. Pete Rose got a lifetime ban from baseball for betting????? Bonds, Clemens, A Rod, McGwire, Sosa were part of a era where cheating was allowed by the commissioner and the whole baseball community! There was no consequences because the commissioner was in on it and the ratings were through the roof, especially the HR race between Sosa and McGwire! Nolan Ryan is the player in the HOF Conseco referenced in his book that juiced! But if Rose doesn’t go in, no other player should enter the HOF if their is no integrity! It’s common sense to look at the size of McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, Clemens at one point in their career to looking like bulky bodybuilders! But it all goes back to looking at what is right and what is wrong!!

I agree with Rob 100%! The same thing will happen with the all time second basemen home run leader Jeff Kent. He should also be in the hall of fame, but the story will repeat again on 2023. Just because the writers and reporters didn't like him. I remember watching a game of the San Francisco Giants against a different team, not sure if it was the Dodgers or another team, but the opposing walk Barry Bonds 4 times in the game. They had to do that in order for them to beat the Giants.

Put them in the HOF and Give them their flowers while they are here. PEDs didn't Hit the Ball, Pitch the Ball, and Ran the Base Path, and that if it's Evident. Barry Bonds Accomplishment of Homers, Walks, and Stolen Bases along should get Him in. The Association that He had with the Greats was Motivation enough for Barry to Compete. Roger was the Terror on the Mound Period. Barry was arguably the Most Feared Hitters, even making Defensive Shifts and Strategies because of it. Pete got the Talent for Always getting on Base. Whether They Hated Barry Bonds or Not, Every Ball Park He Showed Up at the Fans took Selfies and Pictures of Him, Booing and Cheering Also. Put Them in Cooperstown with a Asterisk ✳️ by Their Name, because They Belong if Anyone. He still looks good Today, and the Hate was and is Astounding.

Barry Bonds is the best PLAYER ever. He's the greatest hitter & the greatest at his position all time. Both him & Clemons not being in is redic. Charlie Hustle as well...They all need to be in. Baseball has never had integrity...some of which you spelled out during this feature. Athletes..businesspeople...politicians...warriors..soldiers...governments have always sought out an edge over the competition. To assume that that particular segment of time is when players used substances is disingenuous. I totally disagree w/ honoring an individual & castigating him at the same time...Foh.

This is what I don't get about the baseball writers, analysts and fans, Steroids been around since the late 60's but those folks only assume that baseball players only started doing steroids in the late 90's when there are former football players, wrestlers and body builders from the 70's admitting to taking steroids IN THE 70'S which means it's highly likely baseball players was taking steroids in the 70's which mean if they was fair, every baseball player from 1970 until now should have a question mark, not just Bonds and the players from 98 on

What makes you think Griffey didn't play around with peds? 97,98 numbers don't lie.. he missed games those seasons too and hit 56 homers back to back. He doesn't miss games he would have had 60 both seasons. He just got smart and stopped before he was under suspicion.. was it 99 when he went to the reds and got hurt in pre season and missed like a month and a half of the regular season and yet still hit 48 home runs? I love watching Griffey too im not a hater of him at all. But im pretty sure he was mixed up in the era himself for a short time.

Hall of fame’s are not what they should. It should not be a history of the game. Just because you can’t tell the story of the sport without saying there name doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. Everyone talks about Pete Rose but what do most people mention first his “Charlie hustle” or betting? Museum and hall of fame should not the same thing.

All time leader in walks. How does roids help you become all time leader in walks. Something doesn't make sense when it comes to Bonds. No failed drug test, no suspension . The only proof comes from a criminal mouth. Makes me think about what Hank Aaron went threw when he became the all time leader in HR. Now 2 black guys past Ruth. The next one will see the same treatment.
