I absolutely agree with Rob on this one. The NBA Hall of Fame is Definitely something to need to have it's own entity especially for players that were great in the NBA and not just in college or overseas or for the Olympics. I see absolutely no problem in this take for the first time in a while I actually agree with him on this one.

@@yonamzigu291 The NFL top 100 is just the top 100 players that are currently playing going into the next season. The NBA top 75 is the NBA's list of their greatest players ever and they only add 25 players to the list every 25 years. Essentially a HOF for the best NBA players ever, just only exists on a website instead of a physical building.

I love this topic, and Rob makrs great points here. My only issue is when they bring up load management. They do this as a way to prop up the 80's and 90's. Load management is partially a product of media coverage like theirs which puts the emphasis only on championships and those who've won multiple. The media discounts the regular season just as much as the players. How many times do we hear the phrase. "It doesnt matter what x player does in the regular season they need to get it done in the playoffs" players like Harden, Melo, Lillard, Embiid, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, CP3, Westbrook, Barkley are constantly referred to as "best pkayers who never won a ring" so they're referenced in context to their lack of championships vs. Just being called great and appreciated for that even though much of their greatness came in the regular season. Todays players see this and know their legacyvwipp be defined only by what they do in the post season so why bother in the regular season. When you can olay close to 82/ year average a triple double play your heart out as hard as you can every night, and if ypu don't win a ring you'll be looked at as less than. Case in point, Westbrook.
@rtee48

The unfortunate thing with the NBA having its own Hall of fame is that a lot of the ABA players that eventually went to the NBA wouldn’t make it cause they had short NBA careers with the exception of a few players….notably Dr Jay and The Ice Man, so most of them wouldn’t make it and that’s a shame cause some of those guys pretty much are the inspirations behind Reggie Miller, Larry Bird, Jordan, Magic, Wilkins, Isiah Thomas and so many other players that also played in the 80’s to early 90’s…the ABA was the sh*t and an NBA only hall of fame would unfortunately leave a lot of them out

@@brettthomas6327 no, they had Howard Eisley splitting time with him and he was older by the time they went to the finals. I recall them scoring like 54 points in one game in um, the 1997 finals. That entirely has to do with a lack of scoring punch. After Karl Malone they had a hard time finding a double digit scorer. The system kept them afloat as much as anything. I have a lot of thoughts about 1990’s basketball. I know it’s like 25 years in the rear view mirror but I don’t think people understand the implications of 6 expansion teams in 7 years (1988-1995), the sheer amount of consecutive bust drafts (1986-1991 and 1993-1995) due to injury, drugs, death etc…that’s why all of the best players were like 35yo + by the mid-late 1990’s. That hasn’t happened before or since. With that context, you can see why a 36yo John Stockton was still being asked to do too much.

Chris Webber is not an NBA Hall of Famer. He Never won an MVP. He played with 6 teams in 15 years. He made it to 1 All NBA First Team. Well it’s difficult because the NBA markets itself as an international game. So they are interested in getting more global not less. So I don’t think the NBA has any interest in divorcing from FIBA. They want to be like soccer. They want to be the premier league in a global game. The NCAA and the NBA and FIBA all have an interest in keeping the HOF as it is. They are all stronger together than any one of them is on their own. Most of the NBA money comes from global investment.

The point is that you can make anything appear to be true by cherry-picking a particular statistic. Case in point- Biden constantly bragging about how more jobs were created during his tenure than any other President in history. Technically and statistically true, but only because the entire country was shut down and out-of work due to Covid when he came in. He leaves out that last part.

ESPN makes up stats for anything just to show people they have stuff to share. And it's more and more specific these days, it's ridiculous. Jokic even called them out in one interview. One of these days, ESPN will realease a stat about a player being the only one to record 24points, 6 rebounds, 2 assisits, while inhaling only 37 times, while wearing black shoelaces on blue sneakers. That's how ridiculous it's going to be.

"The Old Couple Show" back in the good old days when they were no super team, that's a lie, Chicago had a super team, Los Angeles had a super team, Boston Celtics had a super team, the Detroit Pistons had a super team, their definition of a super team is when players decide to team up and put their future in their hands versus allowing the organization trade them to a team or organization. So you think Rodman, Pippen, and Jordan wasn't a super team, you think Magic, Kareem, and James, and the list goes on, but they don't consider them a super team because the team either drafted them or traded for them. It doesn't matter how you come together a super team is a super team.

That would be redundant and completely unnecessary. So what happens with all the players stuff that are currently in the HOF? Do you take all their stuff out and move it to the NBA HOF?? Or you just have a duplicate HOF that has half of the stuff that the old HOF has?? The only reason he wants this is so he doesnt feel bad when he thinks certain players shouldnt be in HOF but doesnt want to be a jerk by saying it on air. Adam Silver is already working on his legacy, with the Play-In tournament and now the mid-season tournament. Hes also looking to add more franchises and with him wanting to have more of an international soccer style with the different tournaments and stuff, I can easily see him creating a European division one day and adding teams overseas. This idea is ridiculous and basically already exists, just not with a building. The NBA Top 75 list. Very exclusive, they only add 25 players, every 25 years. If you want to turn that into a building of memorabilia and what not, feel free.

All four players are a automatic selection to me. When Paul Gasol played in Memphis he was really good and one of the best players in the league. When Gasol joined Kobe and the Lakers he was one of the main reasons the Lakers won championship. I do not see how some peoole compare Howard to Gasol. Gasol was a better player and had more impact on the game in terms of winning. Howard was a great defensive player and had sime impact as well early on until he went to Lakers and did not do to well. Howard definitely belong in Hall of Fame but he was not as good as Gasol who had greater offensive skills as well. Tony Parker is an automatic because he played a major part in those championships and was simply a great all around player. Wade and Dirk are automatic and no questions ask.

The only black eye against Adam Silver is load management. There were Superteams created under David Stern. Remember, he retired in 2014. So, you have the unsuccessful 1996 Rockets, the unsuccessful 2004 & 2013 Lakers, Big 3 Celtics, the Heat, and the unsuccessful 2013 Nets. Just because a super team is UNSUCCESSFUL, doesn’t mean we get to pretend like it didn’t happen. I’m tired of this. Superteams were a thing long before Adam Silver took over.
