The Phillies were expecting the BIG INNING, swinging for the fences. In the end, pitching, speed and defense won out. The D-Backs manufactured runs and their pitching was much better. Hats off to Paul Sewald, traded from my Seattle Mariners at the July deadline. He flat out shut the Phillies down. The Phils didn't have an answer for him.

What makes these upsets possible in post season is pitching that dominates. It really all started right away in 1969 when divisional play began. The Mets won the East with 82 wins in 1973. The West had a very good Dodgers and Reds teams at close to 100 wins apiece. The Mets won the pennannt upsetting the Reds and lost a game 7 to the Oakland A'S in the WS. The Mets had Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Jon Matlack. What surprises me though is I did not think the DBACKS pitching was this good but they seem to have saved their best for post season. If not, then this is the biggest choke job by the Phillies since 1964. Cards fan

This was not a choke by Philly! Dont get me wrong, i didnt want them to win, but there are things everyone needs to understand. Arizona beat the Brewers, then beat the Dodgers, in order to play Philly. Arizona had been playing these games for months...Philly just wasnt ready. They'll be a player again for seasons to come

Philly is all about the Home Run. They are a one trick pony that could not score any runs without hitting for the fences. Not only that but after they beat the Braves they assumed they would dominate the D-Backs and just shut off mentally especially after that 2-0 start. They underestimated the D-Backs and paid the price. Their ego got in the way and they lost. Yes! The D-Backs are the better team cause they won and they also know how to win a baseball game in more ways than just one. Not to mention their comeback against the Brewers and the sweep of the Dodgers.

The Phillies were all trying to hit homeruns, which resulted in a lot of flyouts. Plus fhe.Phillies missed the fastball, Arizona did not. Castllanos was 0 for 24 Rios 1 for 22. Realmuto, Turner, Harper were 3 for 39. This is a big reason why they lost. Choked is an understement. Kinbrel. blowing games 3 & 4 made them press. Which resulted in them chasing everything and missing,. Result a lot of strikouts.
