As a Dodgers fan, I'm completely happy with this outcome. I got to see the Sneks take out, potentially, the hottest post-season team in MLB, which made me feel MUCH better about getting bitten by them and taken out (although, it still hurts). The Sneks aren't messing around! Now we have the Rangers who took out the TRASH, so that automatically makes me a fan of that team. Add in the fact that Corey Seagar is on that team now, I would be more than happy to see him get another World Series ring. Having said that, however, if the Sneks strike again, they more than deserve it. This could be their year!

Sorry man, you never stood a chance! My mom was a long time DBacks fan even though she wanted to sack the manager every other day. After she passed, in June I didn’t want to watch much baseball. Then I saw on the internet they had won game 5 and so back to watching. With my phone sitting beside me I watched game 6 and began to wonder what my Mom was doing up there! By last night I was a believer. I sat there and screamed with ever out 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. It was over and the DBacks had another pennant flag! My wife, who's a Braves fan, just laughed at me. It seemed like only us hometown fans had faith in the D-backs. The problem with the Phillies is they are a one trick pony. They live and die by the homers. They don't have any of the other fundamentals down and that is why they lost. They are also very cocky which also lead the their downfall. They thought once they handled the Braves they would walk all over the D-backs and they paid for it. Always be humble and expect the other team to be better than you. They had a good year but their reliance on the homer cost them.

Putting my Rangers fandom aside, this is why baseball is such a wonderful game. You follow every pitch, you don't know what's gonna happen from one to the next. Home field advantage doesn't necessarily mean diddly-poo in the postseason -- likewise with overall records during the regular season. The storylines will be abundant in this World Series -- being that two years ago, the Rangers and Diamondbacks lost 102 and 110 games respectively. In 2022, both teams finished 4th in their respective divisions with losing records. Now they're both on the biggest stage of them all after knocking out their biggest demons -- Arizona beating the Dodgers, Rangers beating the Astros. Unreal.
@coppertom1967 Жыл бұрын
And all we'll hear about from the "experts" is how baseball is broken and how these two teams should not be here. You know what, fuck them. Sorry for the language but fuck them right in the butt. Stubbs gloating about being ready to jump in the Dback's swimming pool after they won was the turning point. That over-confidence, lack of respect, and doubting of your enemy. 1. The Diamondbacks were not going to let Bryce beat them, even if it meant walking him with runners already on base. You saw that in the last couple of games. Other guys needed to fill that sudden void in the lineup and failed. 2, You can't rely on a Kyle Schwarber (Max Muncy replica) to save your team with a key hit (or HR) when the guy is batting below .200 for the season. It's a matter of time before that his bad habits (lots of strikeouts) come back to kill him. 3. Kimbrel continues to be a good closer but he hasn't been a lights-out closer for a few seasons now. No one should have been suprised by that meltdown inning. 4. As for Castellanos, I'm just glad they finally quit showing his kid on the TV. It's a series the Phillies should have won but not because they expected to. They still needed to go out and earn it.

Brit living in Arizona, I’m still relatively new to watching baseball and support the Dbacks as I do all the local teams. Great analysis of the series btw and good to hear it from the Phillies perspective. I would say that although Dbacks were always behind in the series I always felt like the mentality was to take it one game at a time and as long as we were still in it we might as well keep playing our hearts out. At 2-0 down people said we had no chance, at 3-2 down people said we had no chance, but Baseball games can turn in your favor real quick and I always felt like we still had a chance all the way til the end. No one expected us to get this far so really there was no pressure on the team to perform.

that series loss is on Kimbrel ... but even more so on the Coach for bringing him in to blow 2 games. Literally both times i said "oh no, Kimbrel is coming in, he is going to blow the game wtf is the coach thinking" ... and then it happened. and lose the series as a result. How does a head coach with all his experience not have the same discernment? I would fire him

I think one of the big reasons why PHI lost was because they believed too much in their own hype. Made them arrogant. They beat ATL, easily. They took the first two games in this series. They thought they had already won it all & it cost them. 🤷♂️

"One of the most - maybe the most - improbable and shocking endings to a playoff series in baseball and sports history." You got it right with "MAYBE!" Yankee fan here and the 2004 Yankees blowing a 3 games to NONE series to the Red Sox remains THE most improbable and shocking ending to a playoff series in baseball and sports history.! So, I do feel your pain - I rooted for the Phillies and expected them to crush the D-Backs (who,memorably, administered another improbable and shocking ending to the Yanks in the WS in 2001!). I thought the Phillies would win the WS this year, no doubt. Just glad the D-Backs didn't. The Rangers, even after losing Adolis Garcia, showed why they deserved to win their first WS championship.

You have to remember this is professional sports all time losing franchise, a team who has no problems tanking games. Evan Longoria hasn’t been to a lcs or World Series since he won rookie of the years honors back in 2008 with a young rays team, contemplated retiring this year just to come back one more time with a young dbacks team that has a rookie of year as well ( Corbin Carroll will win) and was a great veteran presence for the team. All I hope for is a good series because on top of this, two teams that had losing rebuilding seasons before this are in the World Series and they had to topple heavyweights to do it. Honestly this postseason was a treat 😁

ANY pitcher who succeeds this post season should have their success multiplied by at least two. Bobby getting all of those juiced balls in these games is truly getting tiresome. Not only are old postseason records completely meaningless due to the insane number of more 'playoff' games there are, but each game now is averaging.. what? 5 homers a game? Against the supposed best pitchers on the best teams? Give me a break.

I feel they lost it because of the insanely ill balanced batting order. If you have guys like Harper and Turner batting 3rd and 2nd, you don't want to see guys like Stott and Bohm ass clean up hitters. I'd like to see how many times they struck out or hit into a DP with RISP. And then there's Rojas. Nice guy, but he had no business being on that roster.

The 2006 Cardinals were really a 100+ Win team and the best team in MLB that year in disguise. It's just that their star athletes were injured throughout most of the regular season, just in to time to recover and be fresh for the postseason. Had it not been for injuries, they would've had a 100+ win season.

The Phillies won 6 more games than the Diamondbacks after playing 162 games. This equates to being 1 game better every 27 games. 27 games are played, they have 1 more win. Play another 27, 2 more wins. So, at 81 games, the halfway point, they are 3 games better. The whole way, 6 games better. Here is the question. If they are 1 game better every 27 games, how many games better are they in 7? 1/4 of a game? You can't win 1/4 of a game. This is why the longer the series, the more likely the better team wins. The chances of Philadelphia winning this series was around 52%.
