Rob & Patti on the Run - Nashville, TN

Patti and I travelled to Nashville, TN to check out music on Broadway, meet up with a few Internet personalities, and have some food.
We met with Randy Santel, Katina Eats Kilos, and Jack Scalfani and his wife Tammy.
We ate at 5 Daughters Bakery, 12 South Taproom and Grill, Paula Deens and Saltgrass Steak House.

Looks like you and Patti had a GUD time in Nashville! And capping it off with dinner with one of the biggest KZbin celebrity chefs must have been a great cherry on top. Sad to see Jack is still confined to a wheelchair. I recall he had started a carnivore diet where he was basically eating nothing but meat, cheese, and butter and had claimed that he felt better than ever, so I expect we'll see him up and walking around again in no time!

Well… that is his goal. Unfortunately his last stroke had more long lasting issues. He mentioned to me that his equilibrium is messed up and it makes it difficult to walk and distances

Looks like a fun trip, as usual! I remember trying, and liking, cronuts for the first time years ago and they were introduced to me as the hot new NYC food trend. Then, I moved to NYC and never tried one while I lived there! What a sugary shame. Watched your steak video on the other guy's channel and noticed he was much more engaged than usual, which was nice.

Yes, that was a first time I have tried cronuts. I liked them. The texture was a lot different than I was expecting. We bought six of them that lasted about three days. I don’t think I’ll have another one for quite some time. I also noticed that the other guy was a lot more engaged when Patti and I went out to dinner with him. He seemed to be having fun and was a lot more talkative than normal. Maybe it was because we were a change of pace…. Don’t know, but he has messaged me a couple of times stating what a good time they had. That was nice to hear.

No… Tammy only had one requirement for us doing this JOTG video. She would not let us pay for everything. (I wanted to treat for the table) so… Tammy paid for theirs and Patti paid for ours.

One thing I do know I am not good at is dancing. So, no I did not dance to any live music this time. This was my first time having Nashville hot chicken. It was interesting learning the history of it and getting it from the place that claims to be the original Nashville hot. I think we are both happy with picking Prince’s over the other place. So tasty!

I think that Nashville Hot Chicken at Prince's looked amazing! And I would've been in heaven at the moonshine bar. Excellent video!

That moonshine bar was fun and entertaining. (And free!). I’d definitely do that again. I was very happy with the Prince’s Hot Chicken. I only had it medium. That was perfect for me. I got a bit of heat, but it did not mess up the enjoyment of the meal.

@@RobMilanowski which moonshine flavor was your favorite? I'm a big fan of apple pie or strawberry. Old Smokey makes a fruit punch flavor I really enjoy too.

@@kebby8251 well.. that’s hard to say. I know I did not like the pickle flavor. I thought the Cinnamon was tasty and the Fruit Loops was memorable.

Yes, when Jack suggested doing a Jack on the go with him, I jumped at the opportunity. #1, I wanted to see what he goes through to film one of these Jack on the goes. #2,I wanted to see if I agreed with his Food assessment, and #3, I wanted to see if he was really doing all carnivore. 1) He does one take and gets what he needs. He asks permission of those he is recording and if extra light is needed, he asks permission. #2, in this case, I agreed with him, but did not have the benefit of having the other steak war location tastings. 3) He ate nothing except what he is considering carnivore. (Meat, dairy and seasoning)

Jack is Phat, I really like his style of baggy clothes with vaguely patriotic iconography. I just wish he would have stood up and addressed the camera while talking, would make for a better video.

I have learned a few things during this driving trip in the south. One of those things is there are many Black Rifle coffee shops. I had no idea they even had locations. The only time I have seen Black Rifle coffee is in sporting goods stores. I bought it once, but seemed too expensive for the quality. I also learned Jack is not able to stand and walk for very long distances. His last stroke caused issues that are making things more difficult for him.

Glad you enjoyed Nashville. I didn't care for it much when I went. I just can't get into modern country and I felt too much of downtown had been redeveloped into ugly five over one's. On the other hand I saw one of the best jazz concerts of my life there, but I'm the weirdo that sees a jazz concert in country town.

The funny thing is… For this trip, I saw more old-time country than in past trips. I am continually blown away by the quality of the musicians that are playing on Broadway. All those bands are playing for free seven nights a week trying to get their name out there. They’re basically playing for tips. That is such a hard way to make a living.

Wow, I didn't expect the "Steak Wars" to have more participants in the "action". Hopefully, "Saltgrass" didn't serve up lab meat - some teenager with a Spongebob AI-voice educated me on tik-tok to only eat boned meat, and didn't notice a bone on your steak.

From what I could tell, Saltgrass served up some pretty delicious beef. I had a 12 inch ribeye that was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. I was very happy with the meal I got there and am 98% sure it was not lab grown even though there was no bone.

I don’t think there was a single potato dish on the table, but I can confirm that there were copious amounts of butter flowing.
