Dirk that was awesome! I love emerger patterns, my take on Rosenbauer' s SS Emerger worked fantastic for me at a time when I didn't know what the heck I was doing (maybe I still don't - lol ;o) The hook I used was Eagle Claw L042, for the very reason Rob stated on the 1120 - it has a nice "shelf" to tie the body of the fly yet a good dropped curve for the emergence part and a shuck. Plus it was the only curved hook I had at the time back in 1991 when I read about the pattern in an Orvis newsletter. I'd never heard of CDC so I used grizzly hackle instead. Rob Lewis is new to me but I love his banter and this Knockdown Cripple of his! I'll be tying this for next spring for sure. Thanks for filming this!

Great video. Rob is an interesting character. If I could afford a guide, he would be my choice. Do you know if he ties these down to small bwo’s size 20-22?thanks
