Josh is so humble. Give that man credit for his vocals, he’s really underselling himself. What he does on vocals on top of the elite guitar work he does is incredible. He’s one of the top metal vocalists in the scene. Thanks for the top notch music you give us year after year, much love and appreciation.

Dude...im right there along with Josh. Chimaira MATTERED to TONS of us. I could totally hear all the bands you loved and thats why I loved Chimaira so much. It was the brainchild of all those bands, Metallica Slayer Morbid Angel, Cannibal, Machine Head, sepultura, in other words, damn near perfect.

I only found sylosis maybe a couple years ago, but they’re already one of my biggest inspirations. A sign of things to come was so damn heavy and so aggressive without stupid low tuning or unneeded breakdowns. It blew my mind. I’m constantly trying to write stuff more like that, and now with Ultimate heavy drums, my mixes sound so much better with so little effort. Josh is truly such a boon to the metal community.

It's really cool to hear about all the similarities in your tastes, work ethic, and approach to making music. Josh references loving the BTS of making music, and although I'm not a musician, I've always loved it too. A Year and A Half In The Life Of...is one that I own and have watched numerous times. Man, Chimaira and Sylosis are two of the most influential bands on me as a guitarist. Interesting take on the hipshot bridge, the reason he didn’t like them is the reason I do 😆. In combination with a TUSQ nut, you get such cool overtones and sustain. But he’s right, it can make it sound brittle if you don’t take care of any sympathetic noises. This whole interview is a ton of cool perspective and info.
@JonBloor718 күн бұрын
The way Josh speaks about that time period, in the UK, and the bands coming out of those influences is bringing some serious nostalgia. Sylosis, Malefice, Viatrophy, Arusha Accord, Exit Ten. You could hear the inspiration from NWOAHM and the specific British colouring. Chatting about hanging out with mates, blasting Impossibility, serious memories.

Rob please, iv searched everywhere. how do you get that nothing remains guitar tone at 2.25? is there a partially engaged wah pedal going on? even your non wah leads have an engaged tone later on in the song (not the parts where you are using it) Is there a secret to this, iv wanted to know for maybe nearly 20 years. Thank you, your the best.
@DanHovington18 күн бұрын
He explains it very well in his DVD, it's basically the stadard tunning (drop c) + a second full octave up (12 semi-tones) as a second guitar tone at the same time. Hope this helps out ! that's basically what I did when I covered the song.

@37:00 totally agree about the guitar riffs these days not being meaningful or thoughtful. its too much about sync of timing to be another layer of the song, rather than the talented groovy dynamic layer I think it should be again. the guitarist basically makes the bands sound, drummers are expendable lol
