My guest this week is guitarist and frontman of Sylosis, and one of my personal oldest friends Josh Middleton. We talked about their latest album A Sign Of Things To Come but mostly about growing up together (including his CRAIG REYNOLDS DOS AND DONTS sign for his room), a killer Anthony Kiedis impression, touring with Metallica, and much more. I LOOOOOOVE SYLOSIS I just remembered... it must have been 8 years ago, I went to a Sylosis concert and Josh was selling merch... I was so starstruck! Josh was soo nice and calm while I was shaking soooo hard, I just could not take a stable picture. So it made me shake even more lol thankfully a helpful stranger took my phone and took the picture for me 😂 I still wear those T-shirts 😊 Edit: reading my comment again and I sound insane 😅

I’ll never forget, very first metal show. Sylosis was opening for a tour in like 2011, line up was them, hellyeah , in flames and lamb of god. I was so blown away with their performance I’ve been a fan ever since edge of the earth!

Conclusion of an Age is Sylosis' best record they've ever made imo. Riffs for days, lots of melody, amazing solos, great vocals. Josh will probably disagree with me haha. Even though I love Josh's vocals on every release since then, Jamie is a mega talent on the mic too haha.

About the long songs, Josh does have a point that people don't have the Attention span for them nowadays, but I don't know what it is that for me bands who usually write some longer songs (atm I call recall sylosis, machine head, and some Trivium, especially shogun), those tracks are usually amongst my favorite ones. I feel like it's one of the few things that really capture my attention. Hope sylosis release in the future something with more Edge of the Earth vibes.
