Robbens playing is always right where it should be. Never too much, or too little. It is so soulful, and his knowledge and technique are perfect.

Always great . I had the privilege to play (a few years back) on the same stage with this gent,and my band warmed up for a man Robin was playing with at the time in Monterey. I believe it was the San Carlos ballroom. Unfortunately it doesn't exist anymore,but i will always cherish that night!!

If you've seen the sheet music for this, the number of fancy chords in this arrangement is bananas. It's like 50+ or something.

Thanks for this, have a couple of versions by Robben. Totally unique player for me, cross jazz, blues and rock and the combination if his technique, finger plucking and heavy strings.... Rips me up every time.

Not to mention the soulfulness in the playing, singing and song choice. When the blues have you down and need to know you're not alone, Mr. Ford let's you know your not.

Thumbs Up If You Want Robben Ford To Play His Old Fender Esprit Signature Guitar Again!..It Sounds Awesome!
@josephvotta66988 жыл бұрын
+JoUtan01 I agree! - I searched eBay and bought a Fender Flame (the same as Esprit, without the coil split switch- which he almost never uses.). But it still sounds like me! - lol - not robben - I'm glad i got it anyway, though, as It is a great guitar.
@YaoEspirito6 жыл бұрын
Always thought that was one of the finest signature axes ever. With that beautiful guitar, I wish that would have been his go-to axe forever. I play the Ibanez AR420 now; close as I can get to that Esprit, and it's just a wonderful guitar too!
@jerrymcgeorge41176 жыл бұрын
I agree. It was his signature tone. I snapped one up about 25 years ago and it's one of my favorite gutars all tiem. I later got a custom shop Elite and didn't like it very much. FWIW, Eastwood has "reissued" a faux-Esprit that with a few tweaks is awesome

Assolo fantastico di Robben!!! Che chitarrista

Yeah finally a sax player that is using his head right to compliment Robben Ford and still do his thing. Band helps a lot of course but as a saxophonist my self I know it's important to phrase off the line as well as the lines in this setting. So thumbs up for this one; big fan of Robben Ford if he tours Europe and needs a sax player - Harp player Id be more than happy to do it as long as its on these lines . The problems arise when you hire a horn player usually a jazzer to play this stuff.,who run their lines irrespective of who or whatever there doing. Really like this

Robben's Espirit guitar had a very distinctive sound: Sort of like a weird compromise between a 335 and a Tele, but all Robben Ford.
@geetarnut5 жыл бұрын
That's what that guitar was meant for! It's just that,, a hybrid of a fender strat/tele & a 335 gibson! That's from Robben himself.

HOW CAN THIS BE FROM 2014? I wish it was accurate of when it was performed , it looks like he is in his 30's, could be early 90's?(in 2014 he was 62yo) His band are so excellent here. Yes! that Bob Malach on the Sax, his grooves are so beautiful...perfect match for Robben & his friend Bob Boublitz on the Hammond B3 & Mike Clark on drums.

@josephvotta66988 жыл бұрын
+Avisek Ganguly Every great musician has a "change of season/ direction" in their musical career. If you listen to whatever he plays, the signature playing is still there to be heard. This is one of my favorite Robben Ford songs! I wonder where these sidemen came from -I've never saw/heard of them before.
