I was hoping for another Fast and Furious rant from M. Kermode. Loved watching these.

It would be all too easy to be sniffy about ‘Fast and Furious 8’, but it is an action movie, and the one thing that it does give you is plenty of action. Yes, the plot is ludicrous and the characters are cartoon-like, but that’s the nature of beast. It is big, blousy and in places quite beautifully produced; it is also quite funny, especially in scenes that Jason Statham stars in. You generally go knowing what you’re going to get, but if anything I thought I got a bit more. 3/5

basquat76 yeah but the last few entries in the Fast series have been particularly well-made action films. The stunts and the direction are just top notch and it's incredible how much of it is real too. It also comes across as pretty aware of its own ridiculousness and the plot and characters even become somewhat enjoyable in how over the top they are.

It goes beyond stupid, but you just sit there smiling.

Fantastic CGI making Clint Eastwood look younger again.

Ugh. I wish they'd just make a cool hard R action film with Statham and The Rock and maybe Michelle Rodriguez as I might see it then. Problem is I can't stand Vin and the rest of the bland non-entities in this utterly stupid and nonsensical franchise. Even the awesome Charlize can't tempt me to this as I can happily wait for Atomic Blonde for my cool kickass Theron fix.

My Friday ritual is never the same without The Good Doctor. Collins is a poor impostor, who explains the plot in detail and critiques very little. Frustrates me whenever I see his name. "How dare you stand where he stood!"

This guy seems to think that Fast and Furious as a series is some kind of CGI fest and that this one is using real stunts because Mad Max made it cool. He couldn't be more wrong. Apart from the second one, very little CG has ever been used in the franchise and its amazing how they managed to pull some of the stunts off that they did. It's a pretty ignorant way of portraying this for someone who is supposed to be a professional. I find it very hard to believe they reverted to relying on it now after the series has just been getting bigger and bigger.

Fast & Furious for actors who can't act and audiences who hate films. Btw, anyone find Edith annoying?

Tony S they're enjoyable "in the cinema" moment films. I'm a big fan of watching these in the cinema; as it is like a carnival atmosphere few films get close to nowadays. On your own on the tv; they're not great films and they lose a bit of that collective buzz. They're entertaining fodder; bit like an old James Bond.. complete pants; but enjoyable pants.

I'm a Bergman/Tarkovsky loving film snob and adore the direction this film series has taken. Fast Five is better than any Marvel movie.
