Disagreed with Robbie completely on this. Great film.

Christopher McQuarrie has directed THREE films, including The Way Of The Gun. If you guys ever need a stand-in when Mark is away, i'll be happy to fill in. I don't have any "actual" experience in the film critic field, but frankly, i doubt i'd do any worse than spending half of my review reading out a summary of what happens in the film and the other half having a conversation about the film with the show host as if we're down the pub. I blame myself for clicking on it as i really wanted to hear a review of this, even if it wasn't by Mark. Never again.

Very interesting take on it. I saw it at the IMAX yesterday and enjoyed it. Though I do think the third act fizzles out a little and needed another action set piece. The Opera scene was great and my favourite in the film.

Thing is, like him or not, Kermode reviews are a barometer of the quality of a film. I know i disagree with him on certain types of films, but by listening to his reviews, i know roughly if i will like it or not. When someone fills in, this doesn't work as i don't have a known scale to work with. ... and yes, too many spoiler moments.

I loved this movie! It's everything a Mission movie should be, Tom Cruise great always and I like what happen when the team is part of it! These character's care about each other, first half alot of action but I felt glued to my seat last half what will Ethan do, how will the team get it done! The plane stunt was fantastic but there are so many other things to look forward too! It's serious but with a great deal of humor! Rebecca is right up there with Cruise, like the female version of Ethan, there something there between them, like a kindred spirit, they get each other! She is not helpless, she can hold her own! I can't say enough about this movie, you don't have to leave your brain at the door, highly entertaining, must see, can't wait for the next installment! What will they come up with! Whatever it is, these films seem to just get better as they go! Go check it out!

Can you please keep the plot spoilers to a minimum please. I know it's hardly revalotory stuff with an MI film, but some of us have managed to avoid the details up until this point.

Five years late, but this film is about Tom Cruise being still okay after divorce, every scene plays him as the lovable and quiet hero, gary cooper for the 2000s. Yet knowing that he's playing both orchestra and fiddle gives us a perverse look into his psychiatrist's diary - every entry shows him living up to a good life (the attention from women, the power of his own strength, loyalty from a friend-family). In this film, he tries to tell himself that he's okay. I won't comment on whether he is or isn't because he deserves his privacy, I really wish he could've made a better film than this though.

I had so much fun with this movie.....I don't think it's as good as Ghost Protocol but there is some great stuff in it. The scene at the Opera in Vienna [which is quite early on so I'm not spoiling anything] is definitely my favourite, there's lots of fun later on too though. It's nicely funny as well - Jeremy Renner [who generally I find quite boring] is funny in this; he has great interplay with Alec Baldwin and Ving Rhames. I really like Sean Harris as well, I wish he was in more films because he's a great actor. Overall 7.8/10: Solidly entertaining. The 3rd best M.I. film for me :)

When I watched Rouge Nation, I kept having de ja vus. Not because I'd seen it before, but I felt that I wrote it, because it was utterly predictable. And it's just pure cheese. Bad, mouldy, 3 month old rotten Cathedral City cheese. The scene where they're all in the train terminal, and she says "You can run away with me, we can go away together" etc etc. The last Mission Impossible film I watched was Mission Impossible 2. It was tired then, and it's tired now. The only highlight from this film, and this Collin fella didn't put the point across about how good he was in it, was Simon Pegg. Simon Pegg was the only thing that kept my arse from going numb with the comic timing.
